Weeds: Smells Like . . . ..

Weeds: Smells Like . . . ..

Posted by Dustin on 06.25.2008 at 9:30 am

In this episode, Nancy was given an assignment by Guillermo, head to a specific body shop in Mexico to get her taillight fixed (which he of course broke), and while there she was also to pick up some medicine for him.

She was convinced that the body shop was hiding drugs in her car, and later got stuck in a traffic jam getting back across the border. Because she forgot her passport, she was forced to go through an inspection station. She was afraid she would get busted for the drugs, but she got busted for the medication Guillermo wanted because she didn’t have a script. They got confiscated.

Upon returning to the station she learned it was all a test! There were no drugs, they wanted to see how she handled herself at border checkpoints. He had given her a gift, a bobble head Jesus for the dash, which actually had a camera in it. Of course the hilarious part was that Nancy had to use the bathroom, but there was none, so she went in a cup in her car . . . all on video! Ew! I’m seeing this hitting the internet!

Meanwhile, Celia was left in jail by Doug and her ex, and she was getting the “bitch” treatment by her cellmate. Fortunately for her (and unfortunately for Nancy), her lawyer was beginning to think she really was innocent and Nancy was guilty.

Finally Andy got into a huge fight with his father over his gambling addiction and how they all, including his mother, thought he was a big loser. Bubby then woke up long enough to ask them all to kill her!

What I’m having trouble with grasping this season is how Celia, Doug and the others or eventually going to fit back into Nancy’s life? Will Celia break out and go on the run, trying to hunt her down? Will she realize she’s ruined and join Nancy’s operation? I’m also feeling a bit of Deja-Vous with the beginning of last season when Nancy was U-turn’s white-slave, but this time it’s with Guillermo.

More Heroes Season 3 Spoilers

More Heroes Season 3 Spoilers

Posted by Dustin on 06.23.2008 at 7:12 pm

TheBadAndTheUgly.com has posted some on-set photos of “Heroes,” which is back to filming. The photos show Peter dressed in black and his hair slicked back (evil Peter again?), while a brunette Claire fires a gun. These images look to be in the future, not the present. There is also a city mural on the side of a building showing the earth exploding!

From earlier spoilers from Kristin at E!, we can now pretty much figure out it’s Claire shooting Peter, and Claire is the one telling Peter “I always loved you.” This makes me also think the spoiler about a shocking character being adopted will be Peter, otherwise Claire is in love with her blood-uncle. Unless we are just speaking of family love, which I didn’t get the feeling we were.

There are also rumors that somehow Linderman is set to return next season, even though he got his head blown off by D.L. at the end of the first season.

Army Wives: Touched By An Angel

Army Wives: Touched By An Angel

Posted by Dustin on 06.23.2008 at 12:50 am

The show opened with Claudia Joy having issues going into church, where her family was. She ran into an elderly man outside, who claimed he knew her and had seen her around post. She however wasn’t sure who he was or how she knew him.

Claudia Joy had been distancing herself from her family. She doesn’t go to bed with Michael, she stays up late watching movies. Emmalynn had gotten her learners permit and it’s a family tradition in her family to learn how to drive a stick from your mom. However Michael had to try and teach her because Claudia Joy didn’t want to go out of the house.

While Claudia Joy was sitting on her porch the man she saw earlier showed up and talked to her for a bit. She wondered who he was and what he wants from her. He said nothing. She says everyone else wants her to go back to being normal. He says that isn’t what they want, it’s what they need. She asked what about what she needs? He says what she needs, she keeps turning away from.

Michael took Emmalynn out to teach her to drive, but she thought it was pointless and would drive an automatic. She also didn’t see why she should care when her mom obviously didn’t. While they were driving, she had a weird panic like attack when she saw some men in uniform walking by. She freaked and got out of the car and ran off.

Emma found Roland shooting hoops and decided to talk to him. She confided in him about the lesson and seeing the men in uniform. She didn’t know if they were good or bad like the guy who killed her sister. She wanted to run them down. Roland told her he would always be here to talk if she needed someone.

Meanwhile Roxy’s youngest Finn developed a crush on Claudia Joy and asked her out on a date! She agreed, after Roxy asked her to just run with this. Claudia Joy asked if his imaginary friend Harry would be coming with them to? He said probably.

Later the old man showed up and talked to Claudia Joy about love, how it’s always with them. He said enjoy herself tonight. She wondered how he knew about her date?

Finn and Claudia Joy went to some restaurant for their date, and Claudia Joy saw the man at the bar. Finn then pointed him out as his imaginary friend Harry! Later Harry mysteriously vanished.

Harry appeared in Claudia Joy’s home as she was watching a movie late at night. She refused to believe he was real and wanted him to go. He knew she was angry, angry at God. She wanted to know where God was when Amanda was killed. He said God was protecting her and the others, there was nothing that could be done for Amanda as it was her time. Claudia Joy didn’t like hearing that, she wanted more time with her, to see her graduate, get married and have babies. He said when it’s your time to go, it’s your time.

The next day Claudia Joy decided to teach Emmalynn how to drive the stick, it was her tradition after all. As they talked, Emma said her mom wasn’t the only one who was sad. Claudia Joy said she knew. Emma wanted to talk to her, but she wasn’t listening earlier. Claudia Joy said she was listening now. They had a hug and a good cry. As they were hugging, Harry waved to her then got picked up by a black car, that drove off with him.

Emma went to see Roland at the courts and thanked him for his advice and help. Opening up to her mom caused her mom to open up to her. She also said she still had other issue’s she’d like to talk about. He said he was always here. She then brought friends along to talk to Roland, and word of his unofficial courtyard counseling grew among the kids.

Claudia Joy went to bed with Michael, and the next day went to church with her family. In her bible was a red flower much like the one Harry always had in his lapel.

At the hospital, Denise met a patient name Mac who lost his legs in the war. They bonded and talked a lot. It seems Mac was a big dirt biker, and Denise remembered she used to ride with her brothers when she was younger, until her father found out and made her stop. She remembered how much she loved the feeling. He said he would miss it too. She said with prosthetics he could still ride, but he promised his parents he wouldn’t. They were worried enough as is, he didn’t want to take any risks.

Later Denise sneaked Mac out of the hospital and had brought him some beers, which he had been craving. They end up drinking and talking. Denise confided in him about the bombing, how she just froze up and didn’t do anything. She wonders what happened to the brave girl she used to be.

By the end of the show Mac had left for Walter Reed to be fitted for prosthetics. He left Denise an envelope with a key in it! She later found his bike with a note that he wanted her to feel like she did, to have the wind in her hair again.

Pam’s kids were in the church play in this episode, her daughter was Joan of Arc and the star. Chase came home and she wanted his help with her lines and stuff. However she was disappointed when he would have to leave again and miss her play.

Chase and Pam had a talk, he was worried about how his job was affecting the kids as well as the two of them. He hoped she knew he loved her, she did.

As Chase was getting reading to leave he couldn’t find his car keys. The daughter was hiding them to keep him from going. She was afraid she’d be terrible in the play, that she’d forget her lines. He had a talk with her, knowing she’d be great in her play and he’d be thinking of her.

Over at Roxy’s, Betty has apparently been having moods, lots of them. They were getting on Roxy’s nerves, and Betty felt bad and apologized. Betty got bad news, the cancer was progressing and the doctor wanted her to start chemo, a ten week treatment.

Betty had also been very nasty to the kids. Roxy had been keeping them out of their own house and out of her hair. Betty was trying to fill out some forms when one of the boys knocked a drink over on them. Betty snapped at him, and Roxy had had it with her attitude towards her kids. Betty would only say she didn’t like kids.

Later Betty confided in Roxy that she wanted children, but couldn’t have any. She said it had become easier to act like she didn’t like or want kids than be jealous that she couldn’t. She then said the cancer must have gone to her brain opening up her feelings like this.

Roxy and Trevor talked via webcam as the show ended. The kids talked to him too. Betty watched from the background and looked a little touched by the scene. Later Roxy went with Betty, who began her chemo.

My Thoughts
So first up, Claudia Joy got “Touched By An Angel” this week, so it seems. When she first ran into him outside of church, I could see where it was going. The actor played an angel in some other show/movie I once saw, but can’t recall, so I thought it was ironic. I did however love the twist that he was also Finn’s imaginary friend. I figured that one out eventually too, but I really thought it was cute.

It also looks like Claudia Joy is getting back to a normal life, not keeping to herself anymore. It looks like my fears they’d go the predictable route and make her turn to booze isn’t the case.

Roland flew solo this week, Joan was nowhere to be seen in this episode. I liked how he has become the courtyard counselor to Emmalynn and all her friends. I hope we can see more of this, get him involved in a storyline with his work and all.

I loved Denise in this episode! I think this is probably the first time in a long time I’ve really liked her and her character. I feel like with Frank gone, and her in her new job, she’s finally breaking out of her shell. It’s like she’s just been Frank’s wife for so long that she forgot she was her own person too. There is something about Frank I really don’t like, I don’t know what it is. I think it’s his controlling aspect. It’s like he doesn’t respect Denise, which was a major issue last season when she went back to work. Now the previews have him being down on her riding a bike, basically saying how it makes him look bad. Grrrrr! I’m wondering if Denise is going to cheat on Frank, or maybe leave him. What would happen then, she wouldn’t be an “Army Wife” anymore!

Betty irked me through most of this episode. She was a nasty grouch to Roxy and her kids, when in fact she should be bending over backwards to be nice to them given what Roxy’s done for her. She also kept trying to hide behind the “I have cancer” bit. Lots of people are given raw deals in life, it doesn’t mean you should be crappy to others! Later she opened up though and admitted her issue, especially with the kids, is that she couldn’t have any and wanted them. So she hardened her heart to kids basically as a way to deal with her pain. It explained her hard-ass attitude.

I don’t have much to comment on about Pam’s storyline this week, as it really seemed to be the filler story. I will say it was nice to see Chase doing something for a change. It seems like all his character ever does is . . . well do Pam! I still think Chase will end up getting out of Delta Force because of what’s going on with the kids and the family.

In the Coming Weeks
Denise tells Frank about the motorcycle. He didn’t think it was becoming of an officer’s wife to be riding around on a bike.

Denise meets a new doctor working at the hospital. He’s a biker too and they begin hanging out.

Rumors spread about Denise and the doctor. Roxy tells her there will always be rumor mongers, not to listen to them.

Trevor ends up shot! Roxy gets the call and cries to Pam that this is her worst nightmare.

Those Were The Days Of My Life

Those Were The Days Of My Life

Posted by Dustin on 06.21.2008 at 10:59 pm

Okay so this is a post some who read my blog might be interested in. A lot of people ask and probably want to know . . . do I still watch the soaps? The answer, kinda, but not really. Sorry folks, this post might depress or upset some of you.

When I stopped doing “the page” back in March I had every intention of continuing to watch “Days” and “Passions.” I had watched “Passions” since the beginning, and “Days” since I was in 7th grade. Unfortunately in March is when “Days” started going downhill and fast, at least in my opinion. Two weeks of the whole “Locked in Crazy Ava’s room” was enough for me, I just turned the show off and honestly stopped caring if I watched every day like I used to.

Since then I’ll turn it on if I’m home when it’s one’o’clock, but if I walk out the door because I have to do something during the middle of it, or before it’s even set to come on knowing I’ll probably miss it, I don’t really care. Does that make me sad? Yup. But if the show chooses to go in a direction that doesn’t hold my interest, then I won’t beat myself up over not watching. I probably see one whole episode a week now, two if I’m lucky. Usually I end up watching the days it is the “Phillip and Chloe” show, or like Friday when it was the “Max and Stephanie” show. I don’t like these characters, and when they are the majority of the hour, I tune out even when it’s on in the background. Don’t get me started on the never-gunna-be-resolved EJ, Sami, Lucas mess. They are the new Austin, Sami, Carrie; it will never end until the actors leave the show.

Only one other time comes to mind that I have been so disinterested in “Days” as long as I’ve watched it. It was during my third year of grad school and I was swamped with classes and teaching, so I stopped watching for about six months. It was also when the whole “Austin and Greta Virtual Garden of Eden” crap was going on, and that had a lot to do with my decision to tune out for a bit.

“Passions” I tend to have the 3 hour Thursday marathon on in the background while I’m doing other work. That show ends soon and since I watched it from the start, I’d like to see how it actually ends. Plus I’m stuck paying for this DirecTV so I might as well watch it! But like “Days,” I don’t pay attention like I once did (cause I had to in order to run the page). Come August when the show ends, I will call DirecTV and cancel that service, even if they don’t want to let me out of some contract I might be in (and think I am). I’m sure I won’t be the only one doing it either!

I do not watch any other soaps on other networks. I was always an NBC soap watcher, and doubt I will pick up any others at this point. I just don’t have the time anymore, and it seems I don’t care for the ones I used to like enough to watch them regularly anymore. I like my night time shows enough as is, they are enough for me 🙂

Please note, this isn’t meant to insult the shows or the shows fans. I’m just being honest about how I feel and answering a question many people have asked or might be curious about. Like I said earlier, it makes me sad I’m not as interested in the shows as I once was, but shows change and so do people. Honestly I wonder if I would have given up or just not watched as religiously as I did a lot sooner if I hadn’t been doing “the page.” If I see a change in the shows then who knows, maybe I’ll begin to watch more regularly again.

Swingtown: Party Down!

Swingtown: Party Down!

Posted by Dustin on 06.20.2008 at 2:22 pm

The show opened with Susan, Bruce and the kids sitting down to eat. Susan insisted they say grace, which they obviously hadn’t done in years. She then insisted they all go to church on Sunday, which they also hadn’t done in years. Indeed she made them all go, and church was over before you knew it and never mentioned again in the episode. The scenes were a bit out of place, but I am guessing they were an attempt to show that Susan was having some kind of moral dilemma over what she and Bruce had done?

Susan ran into Janet after church and asked her to help plan a housewarming party, as they had thrown their first one together years ago. Obviously Susan is also feeling some guilt over neglecting her old friend. People grow apart and move on, as well as change. I don’t think she should feel guilty at all because, well Janet is a boring snob! Something tells me Susan was also trying to distance herself from Trina and Tom, upset over what was going on with them.

Trina and Tom threw a pool party, which Susan and Bruce attended. Susan was clearly distant from them and Tom and Trina noticed this. Bruce and Tom were having fun with a movie camera Tom had. When Brad and Sylvia from the playboy club showed up, Susan insisted they go as she had a headache. Bruce didn’t want to leave, and she made it clear he was in trouble when she told him to stay, but she was going home. Tom and Trina saw there was trouble brewing and hatched a plan to make nice with Susan and Bruce.

Susan confronted Bruce back at home, after finding Sylvia’s card in his pocket. He said he just thought it would be fun to get together. She asked why? To do what? He said not everyone is a swinger. Well in this case I’m pretty sure that they are actually! Susan admitted to him that sex had consequences, and seeing him with Trina wasn’t easy. She wondered if he would start thinking about and wanting other woman. He assured her that she’s the only woman he wants.

Susan and Bruce’s son BJ invited the girl next door, Samantha, to the housewarming party. She said since her mom Gail was going she would probably come too. He had asked her if she was planning on running away soon. She didn’t give him a straight answer, but she’s obviously unhappy at home.

Meanwhile their daughter Laurie continued to go see her teacher. He was doing a book drive at the library and asked her to bring in any old books she might like to donate.

Tom and Trina dropped by the Millers as Susan was getting ready for the party. They brought gifts, a fondue set and a movie camera. Meanwhile Janet and Roger were getting ready to take food over when they found their son Ricky and BJ in the basement selling playboys to kids! BJ stole them from his dad.

Janet and Roger dragged the boys over to Bruce and Susan’s. Janet told Ricky he would have to clean their basement, Susan said BJ was grounded. The men then had to lecture their kids about why looking at these magazines at their age was wrong. Meanwhile Janet was shocked that Susan let Bruce have that filth. Susan asked if Roger didn’t have any. Janet said no, she would know, she knows what he has and where it all is. Susan made the comment “so much for privacy.” Things are becoming clearer now, I’m beginning to sense Roger is miserable in his marriage. It seems there are trust issues among other things.

Laurie went back to the library with some books to donate. Her teacher was going to be working late, he had to through all the books on the shelves and could take any that hadn’t been checked out in five years. She offered to stay and help. They ended up having fun, and Laurie kissed her teacher! Scandalous! Too bad this story bored me to tears.

The Miller’s house party kicked off, and Janet’s husband Roger looked miserable until he and Bruce started fooling around with the camera Tom gave them as a gift. Susan meanwhile hid out from anyone, but eventually showed up. Janet meanwhile planned all these party games, such as where you tape the name of a famous person to your back and have to guess who you are. She was also very strict with the food, when everything could be served, how long they had to wait before sending a new tray out. Control freak!

Trina and Tom showed up at the party and brought Sylvia and Brad with them. Tom changed Janet’s boring music, while Trina came up with a better game to play with the fondue set involving kissing! Trina and Janet started to argue about the party, and Susan got sick of it and stormed off.

Gail and Samantha also showed up. BJ tried to give Samantha the money he and Ricky got for the playboys, as she is planning to run away. Ricky found out as was furious, saying so what is she his girlfriend? Or maybe she’s a whore and that’s what he was paying her for. Ricky left after BJ told him to go. Later Samantha told BJ she wasn’t his girlfriend and she didn’t need him to take care of her. She got upset when she looked out his window and saw her mom making out with some guy across the way.

Roger talked to Susan, apologizing for his wife taking over the party. He had to take their son Ricky home, but Susan asked him to come back because she hardly knew anyone here. Meanwhile Trina and Janet continued their arguing. Susan had it and finally took control of her party.

Susan said the wallpaper on her walls, which was falling down, wasn’t hers and ripped it off. She then had everyone at the party help her and then write messages on the wall for fun, as it would just get covered up.

Janet meanwhile was annoyed that her ideas weren’t going over well. Susan apologized to her, saying she worked hard on this party and she did appreciate that. She asked Janet to write a message on the wall, it would mean a lot to her. When Trina complimented Janet on some recipe of hers, Janet loosened up and wrote the recipe on the wall.

Susan also warmed up and began talking to the playboy club couple, realizing they were nice people. Sylvia suggested a lunch date one day, but Susan said they should all go out for dinner!

Trina talked to Bruce in the kitchen. She asked him how many women he had been with, and he admitted just two. She thought so. She told him Susan was very special and for him to make sure she knew that. They shared a little kiss, just a peck, which Roger walked in on! Bruce had to explain to Roger about the foursome, and Roger was furious and took off. I think Roger was furious because he has a crush on Susan honestly. I think he’s been in love with her for a long time! I can see where this one will end up going. But ew, I can’t see Bruce swinging with Janet!

Roger told Janet they had to go. As he was dragging her out. She had just stared loosening up and having fun, which is when she saw a drawing on the wall. It was of a nun and it was labeled “Janet the Killjoy.” Something tells me Janet is going to start acting wild to try and overcome that label.

BJ went to patch things up with Ricky. He gave him his share of the playboy money and they ended up building a fort in the basement like when they were kids. Something tells me that Ricky is going to end up being gay. Things are adding up. He got beat up by a girl for lying to everyone that they did it. Then he seemed to be jealous his “best friend” was liking a girl. Of course this would be a little too much like “Desperate Housewives” ala Bree and Andrew if they went down that road.

After the party ended, Laurie came home and wrote her and her teacher’s initials on the wall in a heart. Still boring me!

Roger went home and drank his blues away. Yup, he’s in love with Susan. I bet he was stewing thinking how she had sex with Tom and not him.

Tom and Trina had a “party” in the pool with the playboy club couple. Yup they were swingers all right!

Susan told Bruce that from now on she wants them to be open about what they are feeling, whether it’s good or bad, to put all the cards on the table. I am not sure, but it was almost as if Susan was telling Bruce they should explore the swinging lifestyle. She then took control of the movie camera, and she and Bruce made a sex movie!

In my opinion this episode was SO much better than last weeks. I’m re-hooked on the show all over again. I want to know what is going on with Roger and his feelings. I really want to see what happens when Janet breaks and stops being so Martha Stewart. The kids stories aren’t really that appealing to me still, so I’m hoping they’ll get a little more interesting.

Another Adopted Hero?

Another Adopted Hero?

Posted by Dustin on 06.18.2008 at 7:42 pm

Kristen at E! dropped an interesting “Heroes” spoiler this week. It seems in the upcoming season yet another hero will learn he/she is adopted, and it will add a huge twist into the story.

Okay please tell me I’m not alone in thinking “Heroes” is planning its own “Brothers and Sisters.” Yes I think Peter will be the adopted one, making way for a Claire and Peter romance. It could also explain why Mama Petreli doesn’t seem to care very much for Peter and favors Nathan. I mean she was about to let him blow himself up!

In other related “Heroes” news, Season 2 is out for presale on NBC’s online store, with Amazon surely to follow soon. It will be on regular DVD and Blu-Ray, with Season 1 also getting a Blu-Ray release (previously released on the now defunct HD-DVD format). You can also buy official “Heroes” action figures now too, out in most toy stores and comic shops.
