Big Brother 10: This Week’s POV

Big Brother 10: This Week’s POV

Posted by Dustin on 08.12.2008 at 10:41 pm

Tonight on “Big Brother” was the feast that resulted from the food comp. Keesha wanted them to all try and say something nice about the others. When Dan got emotional over issues with Jerry, Jerry used it as a chance to take a stab at him for his lies. Meanwhile Libra made an offhand comment when Keesha joked to April about how they were the same size and could share outfits. Libra said she was after designer dresses.

Later Michelle told Keesha about the comment, while Libra confronted Ollie over harsh words to her. The house soon exploded. Only a fraction was shown tonight. Check out my post After Dark FIGHT Summary to read as much as I was able to transcribe.

The POV was held, it was a race to fill buckets with onions. Jerry edged out Libra to take the POV. Jerry really wanted Michelle to put Dan up, but Michelle wanted to make sure Libra went home and she would with Keesha up there.

At the POV, neither Keesha nor Libra said much nor expected him to use it to save them. Jerry then went off on a tangent on Dan, calling him a liar and Judas in his eyes, and this was his lucky day as he wasn’t going to use the POV. So Keesha and Libra remain on the block, and it looks like Libra will go home unless something huge happens in the house.

Army Wives: It Was Only A Kiss?

Army Wives: It Was Only A Kiss?

Posted by Dustin on 08.11.2008 at 9:44 pm

Like last week, I’m mixing my thoughts in with a shorter recap instead of separating the two.

Frank returned home to base this week. When he arrived home he was greeted by Jeremy, but Denise was not home. Trouble! That wasn’t a good sign for Frank. She soon arrived, saying a friend she worked with is in critical condition after an accident and she was at the hospital waiting for news.

As Denise worried, Frank found a jacket (or something) that apparently was Getty’s, but thought it was Denise’s motorcycle gear. She claimed it was and took it. She then headed back to the hospital, standing with Getty and telling him to fight. He squeezed her hand, and she kissed it. Unfortunately for Denise, Frank arrived and saw it! Rather than make a scene though, he walked off. I thought that for once Frank actually showed a cool head in that scene, rather than blow up as usual.

Later Denise visited Getty again. As she walked away from him, Getty flat-lined. Because he had a DNR order, he was gone. OMG OMG OMG! I cannot believe this happened! I’m in shock, especially after it looked like there was some hope for him. I think Frank will possibly hold whatever was going on over Denise’s head, but Getty’s death won’t make her take it lying down anymore. Denise isn’t the same woman Frank left behind, and he knows it too.

Roland came to see Roxy about her practice test for the GED. It was not good. In fact it was really bad. She didn’t even come close to passing. He said she could still study and pass, but she was ready to give up. She said smarts just don’t run in her family.

Trevor was shocked when he learned what happened, as she studied so hard. I knew where this was going, and Roland confirmed it later on. He suspected she had dyslexia, and told her what it was and how it causes her to have trouble with the written test answers as things get mixed up on paper for her. He wouldn’t let her give up, he said they’d do the tests orally and see how she did.

Joan ended up in the hospital with a pregnancy scare. She had some slight tearing going on, nothing too serious, but enough so that it meant bed rest. This put Trevor in the job of her errand boy this week instead of her driver. She was sending him on delivery jobs, as well as to pick her up treats like ice cream and chocolates! Too funny, but you knew Trevor wasn’t laughing.

Joan was worried over the drug ring on base, and couldn’t stop worrying. She sent Trevor with her plan to Colonel Conners (I remembered his name finally!) and wanted Trevor to make sure he actually read it. The Colonel seemed annoyed that Joan gave overs to make sure he actually looked at it in Trevor’s presence, so he glanced at it, that was it. Later Joan was fuming when he did not take her ideas into account, openly raiding the school during school hours and busting several students. Joan realized she had to let it go, but Trevor knew better. Joan wasn’t about to let this not bother her.

Trevor later brought Michael and The Colonel by to “check on Joan.” In reality he had a plan. I think he knew Joan wouldn’t just let things go, he was looking out for her. He pressed her to tell Michael her issues. Michael was happy with the way things had gone, but as it turned out, she did not agree with Conner’s plan at all. She had proposed a more covert plan, during off hours, that wouldn’t have caused as much drama. She felt the job could have been done and the Army’s image would come off better, not as forceful and aggressive. Michael asked her to write her ideas up. She said she already did . . . and gave them to Conner’s two days ago! SLAM DUNK by Joan. You know that had to hurt that little job usurper and good. Loved it!

Trevor went into see the doctor this week, but got the bad news he still wasn’t well enough to go back to combat, though had made amazing progress given his injuries. He went home and started digging through his drawers for his pills. Roxy found him, and found an empty bottle on the floor. She noticed it wasn’t due to be refilled for two weeks. He said he dumped some into the sink by accident and he guesses he’d have to do without and white knuckle the pain . . . Uh huh. I was shocked that Roxy, always suspicious of her mother, seemed to overlook such a flimsy excuse. Why do I foresee the next drug bust could involve Trevor?

Pam started hanging out with Brenda, the reporter who did the story on her. She too is an Army Wife, a very lonely one so it seems. She and Pam bonded over their husbands being gone so often. Brenda started getting personal, asking how Pam satisfied her needs with her husband gone so often. Brenda was looking for tips to, um, satisfy her own cravings so it seemed!

Later over some drinks on the porch, Brenda brought up an option to Pam, playtime while the boys were away. Pam said she could never cheat on Chase. Brenda said there is an option, one the boys don’t usually mind as they don’t consider it cheating. In fact they usually like the idea. Brenda leaned in and planted a kiss on Pam! Oh no she didn’t . . . oh yes she did!

Pam quickly told Roxy what happened. Roxy was in shock. Roxy decided she was working too much at the bar and missed hanging out with Pam. They decided to make a date, but no kissing, just cocktails. I’m thinking we won’t see Brenda too much anymore!

Finally Emmalynn again noticed her boyfriend Quinn on base talking to some soldiers, once again taking something from them and putting in his pocket. As usual he had an excuse, but it seemed Emma wasn’t buying it this time. Upon his next arrival at the base, Quinn’s car was pulled over to be searched. Just cause he was dating Emma didn’t mean he wasn’t going to be searched.

Emma came home to find Michael and Claudia Joy waiting. You could see where this was going. They broke the news that Quinn’s car was searched, he was the dealer bringing drugs onto the base and supplying the soldiers. Emmalynn said she had an idea . . . which is why she called the MP’s to have his car searched! Good girl, I knew she was no dummy. I could tell she was starting to not believe in him at all. Michael was proud, asking when she became so observant. She said she learned it from him. She felt foolish for liking him though, but Claudia Joy said she liked him too and Quinn was the one in the wrong.

The show ended with Emma confronting Quinn in jail. He couldn’t look her in the eyes, which is what she expected. It wasn’t said, but she knew he used her and her being her dad’s daughter to easily get on the base. He claimed he was sorry, but she wasn’t buying it. She said she’d get over him, but he would have to live with what he did. I honestly wished she would have said she was the one who turned him in, but she didn’t. I don’t know if we were to assume he knew or not.

Big Brother: Fights and Nominations

Big Brother: Fights and Nominations

Posted by Dustin on 08.11.2008 at 11:49 am

Just a VERY quick update. I was consumed with Olympics as well as moving the site last night, so my focus wasn’t on “Big Brother.”

A fight between Libra and Michelle led off the show, sparking tensions. Michelle went off, attacking Libra and Dan. Memphis was disgusted as Michelle went after people’s religions and faith.

Libra knew she was going to be nominated and Keesha thought she would too. Dan was also afraid, hoping Memphis could talk Michelle into saving him. Renny hoped Michelle would see April’s game and put her up.

In the end, Michelle nominated Keesha and Libra, with Libra being her target.

Some MINOR “After Dark” spoilers follow . . .

Swingtown: Cabin Fever

Swingtown: Cabin Fever

Posted by Dustin on 08.10.2008 at 4:51 pm

Deciding his family was falling apart, Bruce made the decision to go up to the family cabin for some time away. Laurie however did not want to go, she was supposed to go to a Jackson Browne concert with Doug. This infuriated Bruce even more, demanding they go. Ricky, Janet and Roger’s kid, tagged along as Janet and Roger needed alone time.

Janet thinks Roger is depressed and he needs counseling. She got the name of a woman that was recommended to her. Upon arriving for the session, Janet started taking over! Janet kept talking about how Roger lost his job, which has made him depressed, and she thought he needed to talk to someone. The doctor started asking Janet questions, which of course upset her. After all they weren’t here for her, but for Roger. The doctor felt they both needed to talk to someone actually. This sent Janet over the edge and she stormed out, demanding Roger follow.

Up at the cabin, Susan called home to Roger, talking about how this trip isn’t as fun as the last one. As they chit chat, Bruce shows up and Susan has to pretend like it’s just a call to say hello. At Roger’s place, Janet walks in and wants to talk to Susan, claiming she’s lost the number for the cabin and is glad she called.

Bruce wanted to set some alone time up with Susan to talk, and she agreed. However she got waylaid by a fight with Laurie over the state of their marriage. Laure doesn’t understand how her parents could do what they were about to do with that couple. Susan tried to explain it was complicated. Laurie asked if her parents loved each other still? Susan says yes, but as you grow older, things change as does love. Laure doesn’t think so, she thinks if you love someone that should be enough. Susan said it was easy to say that where she was now. Laurie said no, all she wants is Doug, and if it got to the point where she was wanting other people, that Doug wasn’t enough for her . . . then she’d leave Doug. She said it was that simple. She told her mom that life was too short to settle.

Susan went to call Roger again, but was caught by Bruce who stormed in upset that she forgot about their date. She explained about what happened with Laurie. They then found a note from Laurie, saying she had run off to meet Doug for the concert! Susan called Doug, who told them Laurie was at some diner. They all agreed to go there to meet her.

On the way there, Bruce was blaming all of this on that Doug, but Susan said this was their fault. She said instead of being parents they were too busy having a good time and trying to convince each other they were still in love. Bruce said he didn’t have to be convinced, he knew he was still in love with her. Susan said nothing . . . He asked if she still loved him, she said yes of course.

At the diner, Doug and Laurie’s parents all arrive at the same time. She’s not happy, and Bruce is about to pummel Doug. Susan suggests they all sit down, have some pie and talk. Bruce feels Doug, who is 24, is too old for Laurie, who is 17. Laurie points out mom was 16 when she married. They also swear they did not do anything until after school was over. Doug says he fought this, but he respects Laurie and he respects she can make up her own mind. Susan admitted that she had seen a change in Laurie, she thinks Doug has helped her go out in the world, question things and get involved. Susan eventually let Laurie leave with Doug for the concert, knowing to stop her would only make her draw further away from them.

Meanwhile, Janet went back to the therapist to inform her that they would not be paying for yesterday’s session. The therapist didn’t expect her too, but would like to know what is going on here. Why did that happen. Janet sits down and talks, admitting she may have some issues. She breaks down, opening up about how there is this man paying attention to her. He told her she was beautiful, he even kissed her. She admits she likes it, but that it just can’t happen. The therapist suggests she talks to this man, let him know they can only be friends. Janet says she will do that.

Janet goes to see Tom, who is alone. She tries to talk to him, but then Trina shows up. Janet quickly claims she wants to have them over for dinner, she wants them to all get to know each other better. Tom and Trina accept and later go over for dinner. Janet finally gets to talk to Tom alone, and as she tells him they can only be friends, he’s bewildered. He has no idea where this is coming from, but plays along with her! Clearly he thought he was only being nice and friendly and she thought he was putting the moves on her.

Meanwhile we finally get the talk between Trina and Roger, the big one. She flat out tells him she can see what is between him and Susan, and thinks she is the one he wants. Roger finally admits it, saying he doesn’t know what to do. Trina says he can tell her and go for it, or he can try and get over his feelings for her.

Tom and Trina end up sneaking out of dinner early, as they both started getting weirded out a bit by Roger and Janet . . . especially Janet. They then ended there closed relationship status and had a foursome with another couple.

Janet meanwhile tells Roger she went to see the therapist and they had a really good talk about a lot of things. She was wrong about her, she is a good doctor. She tells Roger that she wants to do her part around here too, she’s going to go to an employment agency and see about getting a job. Roger said okay. Janet then went off to take a bath. Roger tried calling Susan, but hung up just as Susan got to the phone and answered it. Roger then dug the doctor’s business card out of the trash.

Also going on in this episode, BJ and Ricky were still fighting over Ricky and what happened with Samantha. Ricky felt if BJ hit him then he’d feel better, and egg’d him on into doing it. BJ admitted he felt better. He then told Ricky that he thinks his family is really screwed up. Ricky told him to join the club.

My Thoughts
I loved Janet once again, she was great in this episode. Her taking over Roger’s therapy session was classic, as was the whole misunderstanding of Tom’s intentions. I think he was being friendly and trying to make her feel good about herself, but she thought he was in love with her. When she contronted poor Tom, saying they could only be friends, he looked like he was afraid of Janet! I really thought for a second Janet was going to jump on him. Maybe he did too! He played along, but couldn’t wait to get out of there. The way Janet talked to the therapist about Tom, I think she actually does have a little crush on him.

I loved the heart to heart Laurie had with her mom. It was ironic that the kid was setting the parent straight on love, telling her mom that if her dad was not enough she should leave him and find what does make her happy. It was odd to hear a kid basically telling her mother it was okay to get a divorce if that was what made her happy, but it also showed maturity on Laurie’s part I think.

Susan going to call Roger after the talk with Laurie basically was her making the move, admitting she wanted Roger. Roger also finally admitted to Trina it was Susan he wanted. So there we have it, after all this time they both have admitted at least to themselves (and us) they want each other. I have to say, I’m really feeling for Janet and Bruce as they are about to be blindsided and probably don’t see it coming. I think I feel a little more for Janet, as Bruce came across as a controlling father and husband in this episode.

BJ and Ricky ventured back into pointless and boring land this week, but fortunately they were on for a quick moment and that was about it. I honestly did think when they had their fist fight, that Ricky was going to kiss BJ. I guess that would be a little too predictable though.
