Oh No, Not Again! Second TV Strike Possible
It seems we could be headed for a replay of last season’s television, only the players have changed. Instead of the writers striking, this year it’s the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) threatening to strike.
Mediation with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers failed after two days, so the SAG is working to approve a strike. Talks have broken down after four months. The issue? The same issue the writers had. Payments over web shows and DVD sales. The ironic point is the Writers Guild of America, which negotiated for a similar deal, is now complaining the producers and studios are failing to live up to the deal they negotiated.
