Heroes: It’s Coming!

Heroes: It’s Coming!

Posted by Dustin on 11.18.2008 at 10:05 pm

Last night’s “Heroes” was about the coming eclipse and sides being taken. Team good and team bad have been chosen, and next week the new eclipse begins which takes away all their powers and makes them human!

Arthur attacked Hiro to try and keep him from revealing to others what he was planning, but Hiro and Ando jumped through space to get away from him. Unfortunately Arthur did mess with his mind, and Hiro was left thinking he was ten years old. Hiro started jumping them all over, after Ando explained his powers nd how to use them, and they ended up at a comic book shop. Ando was trying to convince Hiro of their mission and what they had to do. They found the 9th Wonder comics, which of course showed the exact scene they were in.

Now Hiro has always been the quirky hero, but the funny-shtick is getting a bit old. A few jokes here and there are okay, but “Heroes” doesn’t really need comic relief for the most part. I hope they give Hiro and Ando a serious story soon. Also the 9th Wonder comic, well that was a little silly. I mean Arthur was going to all that trouble to keep his death and identity a secret when it was in the comic book the whole time?

Claire and Peter spent most of the episode trying to escape from Pinehurst and get back to Primatech. Meanwhile Nathan and Tracy arrived there and met with Arthur. Arthur attempted to lure Nathan into his plan, which is to supposedly prevent the end of the world by giving everyone powers. Not sure how that will prevent the end of the world, as it seems to make things worse. I think he’s just lying to Nathan that he’s trying to save the world. Oh I hope Nathan doesn’t fall for yet another one of these idiotic schemes! Fortunately Nathan wanted nothing to do with his dad and left, but Tracy lingered behind. She offered to help him out, to bring Nathan over to his plan as he would need a face to pull this off and what better face than a US senator. I was not shocked Tracy turned bad, it was expected. She was shown in Angela’s vision of the future on the bad side. Tracy and her sisters have always been on the dark side of things it seems.

Surresh worked on the formula and he and Arthur discovered a third piece was needed to make it work, a catalyst. Arthur knew what it was, and were Kaito had hidden it. It was obvious it was Claire, as Kaito gave Claire to HRG years ago as a baby.

Sylar found himself locked up with Elle. Arthur told him he had to learn to take powers without killing, and he could do this through the heart (or something like that). Sylar didn’t think he had a heart, but Arthur knew he did as he was the one that saved Peter from dying in the fall. Elle spent most of the episode frying Sylar, who wouldn’t find back. He apologized for killing her father, he said he was trying to get his hunger under control. He was doing that when they first met. She told him the truth, how they used him. He forgave her, and she began to cry. Somehow in forgiving Elle, he was able to acquire her power. Elle softened and taught him how to use it. This was honestly the best storyline of the episode, as these two are smoking hot together. Oh yeah, Elle is the baby mama for sure. I just hope they don’t kill her off, as Elle clearly was missing in the future. Let’s change that!

Matt and Daphne went to Primatech to see Angela, and Matt attempted to help her break out of the mind prison she was stuck in. He went inside her head, only to find her chained to a chair, a prisoner of Arthur’s. She also was afraid Matt would be trapped too. Daphne showed up and stabbed him, and in the real world he was bleeding. Clearly it was a sign that Daphne was working for the enemy, but Daphne snapped Matt out of it and broke through to him. It seems Daphne has finally switched sides, and I hope she doesn’t double-cross Matt yet again! I love them together too. Angela talked to Arthur mentally and convinced him to let her go, that part of him still loved her. He did, and she and Matt woke up from their trances.

Nathan, Peter, Claire, Daphne and Matt gathered in Angela’s room as she explained what Arthur was planning, how she and Peter both had seen the future and it wasn’t one they wanted to live in. Matt had also seen it and agreed. Angela revealed the formula was useless without a third item, catalyst to make it work. She said only Kaito knew what it was, she had no idea what it was, but they had to make sure Arthur didn’t find it. Claire revealed what Sylar said to her when he opened her head, and how she believes she was the catalyst.

Meanwhile Arthur, Tracy, Sylar, Elle and some of the other villains gathered as Arthur drew an image of the future. He drew another eclipse and said “It’s coming!”

So the sides have been formed. I have to say I don’t like that Sylar and Elle are on the bad side, though technically they have always been villains in a sense. But Sylar seemed to be on this “reformation” kick and this isn’t how to go about it. I’m sure though he’ll realize Arthur has manipulated him just like everyone else soon enough. Arthur better fear Sylar for sure!

True Blood: Two In Jail

True Blood: Two In Jail

Posted by Dustin on 11.18.2008 at 12:47 pm

So this is it kiddies, one final episode of the season and then we all are in for some “True Blood” withdrawals. This is gunna suck!

Tara ended up arrested for drunk driving. Her telling the cop she swerved off the rode because of a nekkid lady and a giant pig didn’t help matters. In jail her mother refused to help her, saying she couldn’t poison her soul and Tara was going down a dark road. Damn, after years of Tara putting up with her stuff? Tara even pointed that out, but her mother still wouldn’t help her out. She not only wouldn’t bail her out, she kicked her out of their home!

Fortunately for Tara, the sheriff, who was a friend of hers, supposedly called some woman to help. She’s some kind of adult social worker who helps people down on their luck. She not only paid Tara’s bail, but took her home. Her home BTW was a giant mansion! Yeah you know this isn’t good. The fact that this rich woman came out to bail her out in the middle of the night? I wonder if we’ll see her in the morning . . . .

Bill found him stuck with Jessica, the girl he turned into a Vampire. It was up to him to teach her what that meant and how to survive. To his horror the girl was thrilled by the idea that she had no rules, no church, no parents to answer to. She was also very eager to kill someone, a lot of people actually, she had a list! By far not what I was expecting but extremely hilarious. Bill got annoyed with her and took her to Eric, who also found her annoying. Eric however offered to teach her how to drink blood from a victim properly, probably some fang-banger at Fangtasia.

Sam and Sookie got closer as they tried to track down the killer. Both were upset over their failed relationships with Bill and Tara as well. Sookie was beginning to think Bill wasn’t coming back. The two went to the next town over to search a lead, something Sookie saw in the killer’s head. A woman was killed there, it was rumored she was a fang banger. After she died her brother went missing. They got a deputy there to fax over the brother’s photo to their sheriff’s office as a possible lead.

Sam and Sookie started making out when Bill arrived at Sookie’s house, extremely pissed off! Sookie was just as pissed and rescinded her invitation to Bill, forcing him to leave her home! Oh dear. It definitely looks like we have a love triangle going on here. I actually was really liking Sam and Tara too.

Jason was forced to clean up what was left of Eddie. He then demanded Amy get off the V, no more. Later Jason made the huge mistake of telling Rene and a coworker about Amy’s problem. Rene asked if she slept with Vamps too, but Jason didn’t know. Yeah, Rene was just a little too interested in that! Jason went home and wanted Amy to stay, but she had to stop the V. She had one drop left and felt they needed one last trip to “close the circle” and then it would be done. Jason agreed, and in their drugged out sleep . . . a man came in and killed Amy. Well I did say I’d rather have seen her dead over Eddie last week, but not like that! I don’t think I’ll miss her crazy butt though.

Jason called the cops convinced maybe he had killed all those women, but not his Grandmother. That one he wouldn’t confess to. However his confession to the cops sucked, he didn’t know how or why he would kill anyone. They locked him up as the show ended and the faxed photo from the next town over came in . . . yup . . . it was Rene. So it looks like the killer was Rene. You knew when Arlene said he was too good to be true that he was!

Lipstick Jungle: Not Canceled?

Lipstick Jungle: Not Canceled?

Posted by Dustin on 11.17.2008 at 7:32 pm

Brooke Shields has been quoted in US Weekly saying that “Lipstick Jungle” HASN’T been cancled!

“They thought that because My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true,” she told reporters at Sunday’s Cookie magazine Kidsfest in NYC.

“They’re not breaking down the sets,” she added. “We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been canceled, thank God.

Thanks to Malorie for the heads up!

Brothers and Sisters: Drama? Yes We Need Some Drama!

Brothers and Sisters: Drama? Yes We Need Some Drama!

Posted by Dustin on 11.17.2008 at 6:09 pm

Now don’t get me wrong, I still tune into “Brothers and Sisters” every Sunday after “Housewives,” and I still enjoy it. However I just feel the last few episodes have been a bit lacking for me. This post is just some thoughts on what has been going on.

Nora’s charity doesn’t seem to be taking off. They are dragging it out and it seems to have almost become a back story. This week she finally got a house to use for it though, so perhaps it will pick up?

Scotty and Kevin have been heavily featured as of late, and while I enjoy them, it’s starting to be a bit overkill. Also it seems there is some serious issues in their relationship, whether it’s Scotty’s parents or Kevin’s need to take care of Scotty. I’m wondering if these two are headed for splittesville?

Sarah I’m still loving and she’s quickly becoming my favorite on the show. I can’t wait until Greenatopia takes off, and next week Graham is back. Hot!

Robert and Kitty continue to get on my every last nerve. I enjoyed them much more when they were trying to have their own child. Nothing wrong with adoption, but it seems to have made Kitty MORE annoying than ever. At least to me that is.

Justin and Rebecca, well these two have for me become boring. Dullsville. Now they have Rebecca wondering if she and Justin are meant to be after a crock of a fortune teller told her that she had not yet met the great love of her life. Oh boy, they went through all that to break them up?

Saul revealed to Justin this week that he had been seeing someone, he just didn’t want to bring them into the Walker family fold yet. Smart move by Saul for sure, as this family could send him running! I hope Saul finally gets a real storyline.

The Ryan storyline has been put on the back-burner it seems, so here is hoping it returns soon enough.

I think my number one issue with the show right now though is, drumroll, Holly! Holly is still sitting way to pretty up on her Ojai throne. I keep waiting to see her knocked off it. Come on, take this woman down a notch please.

Desperate Housewives: The Roof Is On Fire

Desperate Housewives: The Roof Is On Fire

Posted by Dustin on 11.17.2008 at 2:11 pm

Last night’s “Housewives” was all about what lead up to the big fire in the club the boys were playing at.

Parker told his mom that Porter had knocked up Anne Schilling and the two were planning to run away together. Lynette finally had had it and went to confront Anne, who admitted she was pregnant and it was Porter’s. Unfortunately at this time, Anne’s husband walked in and asked Lynette to leave. Anne mouthed at her not to, but Lynette did! Fortunately she went back, only to find the guy kicking Anne’s face in. Lynette threw a candlestick at him and told him to leave, she was calling the police. He told her to call, Anne would be arrested for statutory rape! Lynette then got Anne to the hospital and Porter was furious with his mom.

I’m glad Lynette did go back to help Anne. Had she not, her character would have been forever ruined. We also found out Anne wasn’t lying, her husband is an abusive ass. I thought maybe she was lying to seduce Porter. Still, it doesn’t mean what she did with Porter was excusable. He’s still a minor and her son’s best friend.

Julie returned with her boyfriend, who happened to be her former college professor who had been married three times before. He was played by Steven Weber, who was ironically “geekified” for the role. They turned him into Wally from “Leave it to Beaver,” which I just found odd. I expected him to be a sex-pot horny professor, which he wasn’t. Susan didn’t like Julie dating him and was really upset when she learned he planned to propose to Julie. Susan spoiled this surprise, but Julie told him she wasn’t going to marry him or anyone. She said plus they had only been dating three months. Susan later asked Julie what she meant when she said she wasn’t getting married? Julie said she had learned one thing from her mom, marriage doesn’t work and only leaves you hurt. Susan felt Julie was far too young to be so cynical and shouldn’t be closing her heart off to people.

I loved seeing Julie back. Please “Housewives” give us more Julie! Bring her back full time as she is missed. We need more than one familiar face in the kids on the block.

Bree was interviewed by a reporter about her book launch. She tried to present herself as the perfect 50s housewife with the perfect family, and anyone who bought her book could have this too. However the woman wasn’t buying it and began digging for dirt, which she found in spades. Bree was afraid that the woman would ruin her before the book came out. She sat down with the woman asking why she’d do this, why she was trying to ruin her. The woman just wanted the truth, a real story. Bree told her the truth is she’s made mistakes and her life has not been perfect, but she is showing herself and other women that no matter what life throws at you, you can turn things around for yourself and make things better. The reporter told her that was a story she could work with, and Bree should have just told her that from the beginning.

Carlos informed Gabby that Virginia the crazy-lady had just put them in her will as the sole heirs to her 20 million dollar fortune. He told Gabby just be nice to her, her blood pressure was high and she was old. Gabby did the best she could, but at the club during the battle of the bands she lost it yet again. Virginia enrolled Gabby’s girls in some fancy school, which Gabby didn’t like. She told her to take her money and her nutsy self and scram. Virginia warned her that she would have them written out of the will in the morning, which Gabby was fine with.

The final story was the battle of the bands, which had everyone in town gathered at the club. Anne’s husband ran it, and Porter threatened him. Meanwhile Dave’s doctor arrived and confronted him. He knew he had changed his name and moved here, the one place he shouldn’t be. The doctor was even more concerned when he saw who was in Dave’s band, the camera centered on Mike and Dave’s names. The doctor couldn’t believe this and felt he had to be warned. Dave couldn’t have that, and killed the doctor in the back room of the club.

As the band played, a fire mysteriously broke out. Gabby helped Virginia escape, wondering if maybe since she was saving her life she’d write them back into the will? She said no. Honestly I was expecting Virginia to croak and Gabby and Carlos would get it all. I’m still expecting that to happen though, they have to get their money back somehow. We are all expecting it.

Mike was trapped in the club as Susan and Katherine waited for him to come out. Susan still doesn’t know about Mike and Katherine. Dave ran back into the club to save Mike, telling him he still had plans for him. This made Dave look like a hero. Porter meanwhile was accused of arson by Anne’s husband.

In the end 6 people died, but it seems the doctor was the only person we knew of (unless I missed something). I have to say this was a bit disappointing. The spoilers and teasers made it sound like someone huge died, and that at least 2 people were left dead (a man and a woman). It sorta feels like the tornado episode all over, where we expected someone huge to be killed off and nobody was. I’m not saying I want a main character gone though.

I’m still not completely convinced Dave is mad at Mike. True they keep pointing it out to be he is, but they also seem to be way to obvious about it. I’m waiting for something else big to happen, a big shock or twist. Though the twist could just be that the obvious is the obvious and it’s Mike after all.

Lipstick Jungle: Joe Schmoe; Plus Thanksgiving Spoilers

Lipstick Jungle: Joe Schmoe; Plus Thanksgiving Spoilers

Posted by Dustin on 11.16.2008 at 1:46 pm

Well even though the show has been canceled, I’ll still watch it to the end. They’ve finished filming all the episodes for this season, which probably means we will have a cliff hanger ending and no resolution . . . unless they anticipated this could be the last season and don’t leave us hanging. I really am hoping for the later.

Nico met Kirby’s mom, who was far too much like her for her. Kirby’s mom (Rosanna Arquette) was a cougar of her own, and she really didn’t like someone like herself dating her son. She tried to do everything she could to put doubts in both their heads, but it didn’t work, and Nico jumped the gun and suggested Kirby move in with her.

Wendy meanwhile finally told Shane about “the kiss,” and he wasn’t happy because she waited so long to tell him. Wendy decided she and Shane probably shouldn’t work together after all. She continued to be interested in starting her own company and producing piercing girl’s script when she got another job offer with an amazing company, better than the last. Nico however recommended her for the job, unbeknownst to her.

Victory meanwhile finally found out from Joe’s assistant Anne that he was planning to propose to her and she freaked out. The girls didn’t know how to tell her they knew, or if they should tell her. They all went away to this wilderness retreat ran by a friend and former associate of Wendy and Nico’s, who fled the city and a high power job and couldn’t be happier that she did.

Nico, in the wilderness, continued to have these weird midlife crisis signs. She decided to buy land out in the country for a getaway for her and Kirby, only to find out he loved the chaos of the city and didn’t like the country so much. He grew up there, which is why he left.

Wendy used the retreat to figure out if she wanted to take this job or not, while Nico was a bit miffed that she hadn’t taken it nor even told her of the offer. Wendy soon found out that Nico recommended her for it. Wendy was upset, but Nico was as well. Nico said Wendy forgot about their original plans to run an entire production company/studio/publishing giant together. Wendy didn’t even remember saying that, but if she did it was when she was young and was first starting and her plans had changed. Nico said work sucked not knowing Wendy was the next floor up, and she missed their dreams.

The girls all decided to head back to the city, but the car ran into trouble on the way. Victory, who had realized on the retreat that she would have said yes if Joe had proposed, called him for help. He came along to help, but also to give her the title and ownership of her business back and to say goodbye. She was left in tears.

Next week is the Thanksgiving episode, which looks to be funny and chaotic. It seems the Baby Mama is back and from previews dumps the baby with Nico for a bit, but possibly runs off? Nico is saying she thinks she’s gunna try and keep the child.

It just seems the show is making little waves in Nico and Kirby’s relationship. The age difference, the mom, the jumping in at moving in together, the money, now a child. I get the feelin they are going to have something happen with Nico’s new boss Griffin too.

Wendy I think I don’t want to take this job she’s been offered. I much rather see her live her dream of starting her own company. Sure it will be hard as hell and they might be poor for awhile (okay not as well off), but I think in the end she’d be happier. I also want to see piercing girl’s movie take off with Wendy helming it.

Finally Joe and Victory. I don’t know what to think. I have a love/hate/OMG this is so boring relationship with their story. I finally started to feel for Joe when the mess with Rodrigo happened, but I also think he’s being a bit of an ass. I mean they had broken up, he can’t go getting pissy that it looked like she had moved on. Perhaps instead of just popping the question out of the blue he should have at least asked her back out on a date to do so?

Official spoilers for the Thanksgiving episode follow! Read on to be spoiled . . . Read More »

ABC Cancels Several Shows?

ABC Cancels Several Shows?

Posted by Dustin on 11.16.2008 at 1:06 pm

The Futon Critic, using screen captures from ABC’s site for advertisers, has revealed ABC’s Mid-Season schedule. This is not expected to be officially revealed to the press until next week.

The shockers? “Pushing Daisies” and “Dirty Sexy Money” are not on the schedule, neither is “Life on Mars.” “Scrubs” and “The Goode Family” take the place of “Daisies” while “The Unusuals” takes the place of “Money” on the schedule. “Private Practice” indeed moves to Thursday’s in “Life on Mars'” place. “Eli Stone” however remains on the schedule.

The story/site notes that it is possible that “Money” and “Daisies” may just finish their seasons early and could be considered for next season, not officially canceled.

Ghost Whisperer: Soul Jumping Jim

Ghost Whisperer: Soul Jumping Jim

Posted by Dustin on 11.15.2008 at 1:14 pm

Last night’s “Ghost Whisperer” featured Melinda dealing with the aftermath of Jim’s death. While Jim hung around, avoiding meeting his father and going into the light with his older brother who had been waiting years for him, another teenage girl ghost was hanging around. She couldn’t communicate with Melinda though, Jim’s presence was blocking her.

Melinda kept trying to get Jim to move on, to go into the light, but for some reason he wouldn’t. She asked him to leave her alone, which he did, and went off to torture Eli with his new found powers. Melinda was then able to hear and help the girl. As it turned out, she was the step-daughter of the cop who shot Jim. She died the month earlier from anorexia and the father didn’t see the signs. He was guilt ridden and went back to work way too early, and then blamed himself for shooting Jim. She blamed herself for what happened to her dad. Melinda helped them both and in a sense helped herself move on to.

At the end she told Jim he needed to go, to move on, but she’d see him again one day. They were standing near an accident where paramedics pronounced a young man dead. Jim then knew what he had to do and soul jumped into the body after the other man’s soul moved on. The guy, who was pronounced dead came back to life. To everyone he looked like the dead man, to Melinda he looked like Jim. However when he spoke to Melinda, he asked “Do I know you?”

The previews for next week have Melinda and NuJim talking. He doesn’t know her, but feels a close connection to her he can’t explain. Eli tells her that past life memories rarely ever fully resurface. Dehlia tells Melinda she’s getting what few people ever get, a second chance at her one great love.

Okay I have to admit, until the guy died at the very end, I didn’t actually see this coming at all. I’m not sure I really like it either. It’s a bit creepy. I mean we saw that guy go into the light before Jim jumped in him, so what? Was he ripped back into his body? The guy doesn’t seem to remember Melinda. If it’s not the original soul, is it Jim with amnesia? Will the guy not know who he is? His blood family on earth now has to suffer too?

I have a feeling I know where this is leading. Last season this is what Melinda’s unknown biological father was doing to the man she thought had raised her, jumping into his body and beating him up. Because of the strike, there was some major confusion and or re-wrights it appeared at the time, as Melinda’s half-brother and that storyline were just dropped (but then again he turned out not to even be her half-brother did he). However when that storyline was in effect and he was working with all those evil souls underground and gathering others, a comment had been made that “they had found a way to come back.” I’m thinking they may be headed there, that this will lead to the miraculous and full return of Jim. I’m not sure if I really like that either, as it really stretches reality. But I’m still sticking this thing out.

In related news, CBS has picked up “Gary Unmarried” for a full season, and the buzz is a 2nd season looks good. While I’m happy for Jay Mohr, I’m bummed as a Payne fan.

Housewives Ending Spoilerish Bit, Plus Sarah Palin?

Housewives Ending Spoilerish Bit, Plus Sarah Palin?

Posted by Dustin on 11.15.2008 at 12:57 pm

“Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry has never been secretive that he wants the show to end after the 7th season. The show is currently in it’s fifth, and he’s worried ABC might not give up the high-rated show. He also leaked he already knows how he wants the show to end, and it will feature just one of the housewives. Which one we don’t know, and if she’s the only one left we also don’t know. No more time-jumps are set to happen though.

Source: KyPost/AP

Another rumor floating around this week, originating from the New York Post, is that Marc Cherry wants Sarah Palin to appear on the show in a guest spot. ABC has denied the rumor so far.
