This week’s “Army Wives” was a tad slow I thought story wise, but a really good episode. First a quick recap, then some thoughts.

Roxy re-opened the bar as The Hump, but the opening didn’t go that well. Her new friend Viola came in and told her what she was doing wrong, and asked for a job as manager. She needed the job, Roxy could use the help. Roxy agreed, but was floored when Viola started making changes left and right while she left for one day. Viola felt she wasn’t appreciated, Roxy felt she wasn’t even consulted. Viola stormed out, but later Roxy realized the changes she was making (a new cook and menu for one) were a hit. She had to go apologize and asked Viola back.

Pam helped out with her son’s PeeWee football league, and the coach asked if she’d be his assistant as he needed one. She said she’d think it over. Later Chase came home and criticized everything from how she coached, laughed at the idea of her taking the assistant job, and hated how she set up their house. Pissed, Pam took the job to show Chase up.

Denise and Frank both met with lawyers to discuss the divorce, but found they were pretty cutthroat. Michael suggested mediation and they agreed. The only real thing of value they had was some property they had bought long ago. Denise wanted Frank to have it, Frank didn’t want it and suggested they sell it and split the proceeds. Frank seemed eager to just get it over, which shocked Denise. She signed the papers and later cried to Roland about how she thought maybe he’d stop, but he didn’t. Denise revealed she had a job offer in Denver and she was going to take it.

Roland went to the girls and told them that Denise was going to leave town. They admitted they didn’t want her to go, but none of them had really gone to see her. Roland finally told them he had an affair last year, Denise found out, and she was there for him. He said they both made mistakes, Denise forgave him for his. This opened their eyes, they all went and told Denise that they did not want her to leave.

Joan decided she wanted Sarah Elizabeth christened, but personally was not a fan of organized religion and church. She ended up finding a very open church that embraced all faiths and let her plan the baptism as she wanted, but they didn’t call it a baptism. It was more about inviting the community to come and promise to look after her daughter. That is exactly what Joan was looking for.

My Thoughts
I have to say the Roxy/Viola story annoyed me. Roxy hired her to manage the place yes, but not make changes without running it by the owner. I felt Viola should have apologized to Roxy as well, but didn’t hear much of one come out of her mouth.

I also didn’t like how suddenly Roxy was painted as not knowing anything about running a bar. She did transform the place and made a success out of it. Suddenly she doesn’t know how to do anything? Sure she may not know seafood that well, but there is more to the bar than that.

I loved Roland finally telling the girls off, and telling him about his affair and how Denise didn’t judge him, she was there for him. About time! Loved that they all finally made up as well.

I honestly didn’t think watching Denise and Frank split up would be as heart wrenching as it was. Like Denise, I was waiting for Frank to say “Let’s think about this first.” However he didn’t. It looks like next week though they finally have a talk.

Chase is an arse! That’s about all I have to say about him. I wished Pam had told him off. Sorry, but you are never home, so why does it matter how the furniture is set up?
