True Blood: Adventures In Dallas Continue

So last night on “True Blood” the adventures in Dallas continued, with Sookie meeting Barry, the bell boy at the vampire hotel. Barry wasn’t as good at controlling his telepathic powers and so Sookie offered to help, but he refused. He seemed very afraid of something or someone, and later quit working at the hotel and vanished.

Eric, Bill and Sookie went to Godrich’s house and met his two assistants, a man and a woman. The man was a huge hulk of a guy who wanted to launch an all out attack on the Church of the Sun. The woman, from Romania, said that would just spell “Vampire Attack” and bring a war upon their kind. Eric was furious, wondering what happened to Godrich that he surrounded himself with such stupid people who were clearly using him.

Eric had a flashback to a fight back in Norway in which he was pretty much fatally wounded. He told some companions to leave him as they tried to return home, because he was dead anyways. The promised to return for him. Godrich swooped in. He was this little kid basically (okay a teen) with a darkish complexion and some bizarre tattoos. In the books he’s apparently Roman, but he looked more like Aztec (way out of place!) or someone from a Island in the South Pacific (even more out of place!). Godrich of course was Eric’s maker, which is why he means so much to Eric.

Sookie came up with the idea that if the Church/Fellowship of the Sun did take Godrich, she could easily find out. She could pretend she wants to join them. Bill didn’t like the idea, but Sookie was set on doing it. Later that night as Bill and Sookie made sweet vampire love, a woman arrived outside their hotel door. It was Bill’s maker!

At the Church’s camp, Jason continued to impress the higher ups. The Soldiers of the Sun were sent through some training course. Jason excelled, while his old bitter roommate didn’t do so hot. The reverend kept taking a liking to Jason, and he kept ignoring Sarah whenever she wanted to talk or be involved in what they were doing. Later as Jason took a bath, Sarah arrived telling Jason he deserved a reward, let her help him know joy again. She basically, um, put her hand down their and serviced Jason while he was in the tub!

Back in Bon Temps, Maryanne wasn’t about to let Tara go. She claimed the house she was staying at, well the owner returned. She wanted herself, Eggs and Carlos (the butler guy) to move into Tara’s place. She however said no, she just moved in herself. That was the wrong answer of course!

At Merlot’s, Lafayette returned to get his old job back. Sam agreed, but wondered what happened to him. When Lafayette didn’t answer, and didn’t seem himself, Sam knew something big went down.

Later that night, Maryanne showed up outside the restaurant and stirred everyone into a frenzy. They all directed their anger at Tara, who they kept claiming was screwing things up. Tara was furious, and later found Maryanne sitting in the kitchen of her home dressed much like Gran would be. Tara told her she would ask Sookie if it was okay if she stayed just for a little while.

Daphne and Sam continued to get it on. Daphne revealed to Sam she too was a shape-shifter, she could change into a deer. They bonded over meeting one another, though she said there are more of their kind out there than he realizes.

My Thoughts
Okay as much as I love Tara, you don’t invite three people to move into a house that isn’t yours! Also Sookie is not going to be happy to see Maryanne, she knows something is up with her. I wish I knew why Maryanne was so hellbent on bringing Tara into her little fold. I will be happy when we see the end of creepy Maryanne.

Eric’s maker Godrich was very very bizarre. He reminded me of the creepy elf kid in that old movie “Legend.” I couldn’t figure out where he was supposed to be from, but I’d say he didn’t look one bit Roman.

zOMG that scene with Sarah and Jason! Wowzers! So perhaps my first instincts about Sarah and her husband regarding Jason were right? Clearly she wants Jason, and next week she starts in on how she should be with Jason and not her husband. But what is the husband’s interest in Jason? To get to Sookie still? Not sure where this storyline is going honestly.

Who has Godrich? I’m beginning to think it’s not the Church after all. THe previews have Eric’s assistant giving Lafayette a vial of blood and putting him back into the V business. My guess is she hopes he’ll get a lead on someone selling Godrich’s blood on the V market.

Anyways, I’ll leave it here for others to chime in on anything they are thinking, or comments about the episode.

  1. Thanks for the write-up Dustin. I didn’t recognize the lady at the end as being Bill’s maker – she looks much different than in the civil-war era clothing! Thanks for clearing that up. Do you think Barry the bell boy knows something about Godrich’s disappearance. I didn’t trust Godrich’s cowboy assistant – I think he’s in on the disappearance.

  2. I never thought that perhaps he was in on where Godrich was, good call 🙂 I just figured he was afraid of something.

I could also see that big guy having Godrich. He seems to want to take over bad.

  3. If the cowboy vampire is in on Godrich’s disappearance, then he’ll blab to the church of the sun about Sookie. This church of the sun has got me nervous (but not nervous enough to check the spoilers – I like being surprised with this show)! I’m worried there’s going to be a show down between Jason and Sookie.

  4. In Sunday’s episode, Sam tells Daphne that he’s never met another shape shifter. I’m pretty sure I remember that last season when Sookie found out about Sam’s abilities, he told her that there were other shape shifters out there and some were more powerful than him (i.e. could change into a variety of animals, whereas Sam could mostly just change into a dog). I suppose he could have just heard about these people, but seemed to be implied that he’d met some of them.
