Army Wives: Car Crash
On the August 16th episode of “Army Wives,” two of our wives were having problems with their daughters. Pam’s little girl wanted to grow up faster than she was by wearing sexy clothes to a school dance and acting sexy. Pam had a talk with her about what being sexy meant and why she wanted to be sexy. It was of course because it would make her popular! Pam told her she should be liked for who she is, not what she looked like. She compromised on the outfit, allowing her daughter some of what she wanted to wear, but covering herself up with tights and a tshirt. When she got home from the dance she told her mom how boys were stupid and all they did was hang around making fart noises with their arms.
Joan meanwhile was still torn over leaving her daughter and missing out on so many moments of her growing up. Roland came up with a solution, a small camera that they could record videos on and then put on the computer for Joan to watch so she didn’t miss anything.
Trevor passed his sergeant exam and was promoted. He also had a talk with the bad-attitude soldier under his command, the one with the anger problem who was sneaking off to see Dr. Price and Roland. Trevor gave him some good advice, which got back to Joan. Joan told Trevor she’s watched him flourish and grow into a good soldier, and while she knew he liked being in the field, but he would make an amazing recruiter. She told him to think it over.
Roxy sought out private schools for Finn. She felt out of place in them, and when feeling confronted by a principal at one school over her job, she said she might not be anything special but her son is and she wanted the chance for him to do something with his gift. Roxy later learned Finn got accepted with a full tuition scholarship. She stressed though as they had to pick up things like uniform fees and lab fees. Trevor told her that it would be okay, he’d get a bump in pay with his promotion. He also told her that he was thinking about taking a recruiting job, which would mean he’d be around for 3 years with no deployment. Roxy liked that idea.
Denise and Claudia Joy were charged with taking care of an Army Widow who was on base to be at a dedication ceremony for some park (or something) named after her late husband. The woman was a pistol, she was partying and drinking and basically a handful. In the end she told Denise and Claudia Joy that they had to let loose once in awhile and have some fun. She gave them gift certificate for a weekend at some nearby spa resort and insisted they go.
Denise and Claudia Joy headed out to the resort, it was late in the evening and dark outside. Claudia Joy’s vision started to get blurry. She swerved into the other lane and the show ended with them crashing their car!
My Quick Thoughts
I feel with the car crash and the upcoming illness of Claudia Joy that has been hinted at in previews (and spoilers) that the show is back into high gear. I felt it’s been in a lull, but now it should be picking back up. The season ends, I believe, in mid-September.
We also got the story of Trevor’s past from him this week when he was talking with the other soldier. His mom died when he was three, his dad has been in prison since then, and he was bounced from foster home to foster home. Yup, sure sounds like Shelby Lynn from last week’s episode is going to turn out to be Trevor’s long lost momma to me!
