Army Wives: 6 Months Later . . . .

Army Wives: 6 Months Later . . . .

So the latest episode of “Army Wives” picks up 6 months after the last episode. Here is a bullet point summary of the developments, before I give some thoughts on what is going on.

– Roxy had trouble getting pregnant, which turned out to be because of a hormone imbalance. Medicine could fix it, but it couldn’t fix not having Trevor around. Trevor got new orders and ships back out in 1 month, he’s not recruiting anymore.

– Roland worried that Joan was working too hard, because she was forgetting a lot of things (putting things in the wrong places for example). However by the end of the show when Joan spilled some wine and then immediately forgot she did it, Roland knew something was wrong.

– Claudia Joy was having trouble in Law School and joined a study group with kids far younger than her, which was a little awkward for all at first.

– Pamela was living off base in an apartment. She and Chase are officially divorced and she’s applied for a police job, but there is a hiring freeze. She’s been working at The Hump to make ends meet, but is struggling. By the end of the show she learned she has an interview.

So my thoughts? Well I always knew one day they’d tackle one of the Army Wives getting divorced. However I don’t think I like it anymore! The show is throwing around a spinoff for Pamela in which she is back on the police force. The Hollywood Reporter just announced that Gabriel Union is set to star as her partner. An episode of “Army Wives” will air sometime later this summer which serves as the spinoff episode. As of yet the project isn’t a go, but it’s getting more and more real it seems.

Pamela has always been my favorite of the wives, but I really don’t think I want to watch her in a cop show. It sounds too much like a new version of “Cagney and Lacey.” I like “Army Wives” because of the uniqueness in the stories they are involved in, it’s unlike any other show on TV. A cop show? There are already tons of them.

I’m ticked they are sending Trevor back into the field, and you know Roxy will end up learning she’s pregnant after he’s gone!

The Joan story really has me interested. What is going on with her? I don’t think it’s some kind of post traumatic stress syndrome, they’ve done that before. Does she have some type of tumor in her brain now? My bet is something from her eye surgery/transplant has gone wrong and is affecting her memory somehow.

BTW, my Tivo cut the previews off for next week’s episode, and it seems others had this happen to. You can watch the preview on YouTube right here!

  1. I have a friend that has a form of epilepsy and she’s like that. She doesn’t have visible seizures, she just kind of resets and doesn’t remember anything that just happened.

  2. I thought it was a great episode. I’m with you on the spinoff for Pamela, I don’t like the idea! I’d rather they keep her in the existing show…or if she was going to have her own show, have her move back to Boston at least. Are they going to have characters cross over into each show or will they just never see her anymore, you know? I thought watching Frank and Michael try to watch Sarah Elizabeth was hilarious! It’ll be interesting seeing Frank with the new baby once it is born. I am disappointed they never showed them telling Jeremy, I hope he is ok with it all. I was upset to see Trevor go overseas as well but it bothered me how much they built it up in the previews last week. I thought there was a serious tragedy with someone’s health or something!! I think you are right, Roxie will be pregnant as soon as he is gone. Lastly, I think Joan’s issue will be related to her eye, some blood clot or complication or something. It will be interesting seeing how it goes!

  3. I think Joan has a tramatic brain injury from when she got hurt. It often shows up in memory loss and doing odd things. Yes Roxy I am sure will be pregnant as soon as he leaves.

I do not like the whole Pamela storyline they certainly got a fast divorce especially in the military in the south! Her getting a spinoff I don’t like the concept.

Somehow I see drama coming from Claudia Joy and the General I think Law school will be putting a strain on the marriage and emmalyn. You can see in the episode she was very distracted.

Loved the General and Frank babysitting too cute. I laughed hard when they started singing. I am glad Frank isn’ a jerk like he use to be!!!
