Once Upon A Time: Snow & Charming

Once Upon A Time: Snow & Charming

So the latest episode “Snow Falls” was pretty much dedicated to Snow White’s relationship with Prince Charming (whose name is James) in both the fairytale world and in ours.

Henry pushed Mary Margaret (Snow) to read to John Doe (Charming), specifically the story of how Snow White and Charming fell in love. She humored him, and was stunned when John Doe grabbed her. A doctor at the hospital said he’s showed no signs of coming out of his coma, but later secretly called the Mayor . . .

John Doe ended up waking up and leaving the hospital in the middle of the night, heading out to the woods behind the hospital. We then learned the Mayor is who initially found him wounded on the road, so she is his “emergency contact.”

Henry of course was positive John was looking for Mary Margaret out in the woods, just as in the story. We learned that Snow White was a rebel, on the run from the Queen, who had a bounty on her head. She was living in the forest, but it didn’t seem like she was with the dwarves. However we did see some of the dwarves in the real world. Grumpy and Sleepy seem to work at the hospital as security, along with Doc as the doctor perhaps? Snow was raising money by stealing from the Queen to try and escape this realm to another where she’d be safe. She robbed Charming’s coach, thinking it was one of the Queens. She had taken his mother’s ring, which he was going to use to propose to some boring snobbish girl. It was an arranged marriage to bring peace to their kingdoms. Snow helped him get the ring back from some trolls she sold it too, and it seemed clear they were falling in love.

That’s about as far as we got with their story so far. It basically ended with her giving him back the ring, and them sharing a moment over it when Snow tried it on to see if it was “her type.” We did learn that the Queen blames Snow for destroying her life . . . which Snow admits she did. But we still don’t know how she did that! What did she do?

The show ended with Mary, Emma and Henry . . . along with the Sheriff . . . finding John in the woods. Mary’s kiss saved him this time around and brought him back. He has no memory of who he is, more so than the others. He really doesn’t know who he is, he has amnesia. This could be interesting, as they could technically have him start to remember the other world, since he has no idea who he was in this world.

John was brought back to the hospital, where the Mayor conveniently found John Doe’s wife. It was the fiance from Fairytale Land. She claimed they had been having problems, she told him to leave and he did. She never heard from him since.

Emma of course is suspicious as to how the Mayor just now found his wife, right when he was waking up. She claimed it was thanks to Emma’s suggestion earlier that they review security tapes, it seems he talked in his sleep. Poor Mary was devastated, as it seemed like she had found and was beginning to believe in true love. But now John Doe is supposedly married.

While we still have no answers to the other big question, it does seem as if the Queen/Mayor has her memories, or knows things in her subconscious which is guiding her actions.

  1. I’m guessing the sheriff is the Royal Huntsman. Snow said that he had morals and let her go.

  2. I thought Prince Charming’s name in the current world wad David, not James.

I didn’t even think about those two hospital workers as Grumpy and Sleepy! Good catch Dustin.

The previews were interesting – the discussion between Rumpelstiltskin and the princess who has supposed to marry James.

  3. It was James in Fairytale World, but she called him Charming as a joke.
