Love Is In The Air? Grey’s and Practice Thoughts

Love Is In The Air? Grey’s and Practice Thoughts

So I was not all that enthralled by this weeks episodes of “Grey’s” and “Private Practice.” When they are on point, they are great. When they are off, they are usually dull. This week I felt for the most part, it was an off week. The later show is once again on my last nerve!

On “Grey’s” I did love the Ben and Bailey story, especially the end where he surprised her with a romantic dinner and was okay with the change of plans. You could see her insecurities from her previous marriage coming through, as her other husband never understood her schedule and need to be at work above all else.

We also got a bit more of the Mark and Lexie drama, as she hoped to try and have a nice evening with Mark and the kids (she was baby sitting Zola so Mer and Der could have an evening alone). But things didn’t work out, as when she showed up Avery was there too. Awkward!

Some progress was also made with Owen and Christina. Teddy blew up at Owen, saying she hated him for what he did, that they’d never be friends again, that she’d never forgive him. When she confided in Christina about this, using “we” instead of “I” . . . well it got things spinning in Christina’s head. I guess she didn’t want to be included in all things Teddy anymore! She was fighting with Owen about getting back on Teddy’s services in the beginning of the show. At the end she went to him to beg him not to hate her (as Teddy hates him). It was a good scene, but can their marriage be saved? It seems they just want too many different things and neither wants to compromise?

Over to “Practice,” Violet began to question/ponder her relationship with the hot paramedic and how it impacted Pete, who was upset because he had to work with this guy. Sheldon suggested she tell Pete it’s not a relationship, it’s sex . . . which is what Violet said it was. Pete however didn’t care what it was she was doing . . . the problem was he cared she was doing it. . . . What what what !?!?! So he can’t do it, but she can’t? Or was this Pete basically saying he still cared about her and maybe things weren’t over? Oh hell no! I can’t take this back and forth stuff!

Speaking of the back and forth stuff, Addison was there to comfort and help Sam as he reconnected with his long lost and mentally unstable sister. Sheldon was also trying to help diagnose her and get her on a proper course of meds. Addison’s definition of comfort and be there as a friend meant sex, and Sam didn’t mind. Jake however did and felt Addison needed to figure out what she wanted, then come see him. Oh hell no x2! Why can’t these people make a decision and stick with it. Why does Shonda seem to love Sam and Addison so much? Can’t we just break them up for good?

Here is hoping next week’s cross-over shows dealing with treating Erica’s tumor is a bit more interesting. Dare we hope she actually lives? These shows, after all, excel in killing people off just when we have hope they will survive.

  1. I wish I could enjoy Mark and Lexie, I love Lexie and was a long time fan of Marks but they don’t do it for me! (I am still a fan of Marks but I find the writing/acting for the actor is so bad it’s hard to take him seriously lately.) I found Lexie had much better chemistry with both Jackson and Alex although the stories were never there for either couple … oh well.

I LOVE Bailey in a relationship, it’s nice to see her this way. I’m really trying to warm up to her and Ben but I really liked her and the murse together. (I know she and Ben were together before too but I don’t think I was watching then. It also seemed they abruptly broke her and the murse up to bring Ben back in.)

I am assuming the Meredith/tumour story is to present her as the next great general surgeon but it bothered me for a few reasons. Firstly, a few episodes back Bailey kept talking about how wonderful general surgery is etc (great point and I love Bailey as a general surgeon.) HOWEVER, didn’t Bailey say she was bored by GS back when she was thinking about doing pediatrics?? And didn’t she decide on GS because she didn’t think she could commit the extra time to Peds while being a good mother? If I am wrong forgive me, but the show could have been more clear – I wasn’t sure if they were trying to re-write a past thing or make it seemlike Bailey had changed her mind again. My second issue is that I personally would have liked to see Meredith go into a discipline other than neuro or general – I like to see her separated from her mother and Derek. I know it would be too late for this option now but it’s not like this show is that realistic medically anyways (seeing as she kicked a pathologist out of his chair lol.)
