Army Wives: Trouble In Africa!

The latest episode of “Army Wives” finally gave us a much needed break from the Jackie vs Claudia Joy squabbles, but brought up much more serious situations.

In West Africa, the assassination of a president who had brought a fragile peace treaty to many warring tribes sparked an all out rebellion. On the intelligence recommendations from guest star Kelli Martin, several groups from Fort Marshal were selected to go in to try and help evacuate Americans and if possible diffuse tensions. Frank is heading over, as is Trevor and Hector (the new guy in the unit whose wife became friends with Roxie). Jackie’s husband General Clarke is also going, but Michael and Joan seem to be remaining behind. On the hospital front, Tanya is being sent over as part of the medical team.

It’s obvious Roxie is stepping into the Pamela role, and she’ll be mentoring Gloria as she sees Hector off to battle for the first time. She gave her some very practical advise, but I also wonder if it was foretelling for us. She advised her to have wills drawn up and legal guardianship of finances in place in case they were needed. Yeah, I’m wondering if Hector might not make it!

At the very beginning of this episode we saw Min Gi again. This was the woman who quit the FRG and Roxie took over for. Roxie wanted her to know she’s welcomed back any time, and that she would not let the women get out of hand. Min Gi however didn’t seem to want to return, even saying she did a bad job of things. I think there is more of a story here than we know about. I’d much rather see more of Min Gi than Gloria to be honest.

The other major story was Claudia Joy’s health crises. Emma Lynn returned, and we learned that Claudia Joy had developed kidney failure. There was nothing she could have done to prevent this, it was an unfortunate happening. She would be on dialyses 3 times a week until a kidney transplant became available, which could take years. Emma Lynn offered to donate, but she was not viable. Because of her mother’s history with diabetes, there was a chance she could develop it late in life, and she’d need her kidneys if that happened. A war injury took Michael out of the running too. In the end Denise suggested to Frank she donate. He wasn’t sure, they had Molly to think about. She said the first step would be to see if she was a match, if she was they would discuss it more. He made her promise not to exclude him in this!

Unfortunately Frank is now being shipped off to Africa. Why do I have a feeling Denise is going to use this opportunity to go through with the donation? If she does, Frank is going to be pissed!

  1. Something is definitely up with Min Gi she didn’t even kiss her husband goodbye when they were leaving. Who doesn’t do that? I’ve seen many deployment goodbyes and that does not happen. I am thinking she might be abused and has immigration issues maybe?
