666 Park Avenue: The Birds!

666 Park Avenue: The Birds!

Posted by Dustin on 10.08.2012 at 11:03 pm

The second episode of “666” was very much a throwback to “The Birds,” even conjuring up a reference to the movie and Tippi Hedren. Jane learned that a huge nest of starlings (sp?) had taken up residence in the walls. She was moving to have them exterminated, which Gavin learned of and did NOT seem to like. The exterminator who tried to kill them met with a violent end, and Gavin eventually told Jane to leave them . . . they weren’t bothering anyone and this was there home too. What is their significance? He also suggested she fix the mess in the basement . . . She went down to see that the exterminator she had hired had tore down the wall and revealing the strange door that Jane keeps dreaming about. The door seems to show her things, so of course she entered in. She found herself trapped as the show ended. It definitely felt like Gavin was sending her right into a trap.

Meanwhile the one woman who sneaks around the building and is apparently the thief everyone is looking for appears to be psychic? The things she takes give her visions. In this episode she stole the exterminator’s keys and got a vision of his death. Hmmmmmm . . .

Henry learned that a building Gavin was bidding on was basically a toxic dump and useless, but he couldn’t tell Gavin this as it would compromise his job. At the same time he worried if he didn’t, Gavin would kick them out. In the end Henry said nothing. Gavin bought the building, but in the end flipped it before the news broke about it’s value due to the toxic waste one site . . . Henry felt bad, but Gavin told him he was a man of integrity and he liked that. Gavin later told Olivia that Henry passed his little test, and he may just be the hero they need. What was that about? Do they want Henry to rescue them from The Drake? Or is this something worse? I’m thinking something along the lines of”Rosemary’s Baby” meets “The Wicker Man” here.

Brian (the writer) continued his weird affair with the woman in the building across the way, while his wife Louise (the photographer/artist) was released from the hospital. Gavin paid them off to the tune of 300 grand as a “please don’t sue me” gesture. I have yet to figure out how they fit into this story at all . . . I do kinda think that woman is dead though (reminiscent of “The Shining”).

Jane got clues from her dreams, as well as mysterious papers left for her, about a murder at The Drake in the 50s. It was in the apartment of a new friend they made, Danielle. We basically learned that this woman Danielle has been living at the building for decades. She’s really an old lady, but through Gavin’s powers she remains young. The price is that she seems to repeat history, constantly falling in love with the wrong men and killing them. It seems though that Gavin sets her up with these men so she can do away with them. He then removes all her memories and starts her on a new life? He’s clearly using her, as he is others in the building, to exterminate his enemies. But for what purpose? What is he after?

The mystery shall continue! Frankly I’m loving the show, so I hope it sticks around.

Bunches of October 2012 ABC Spoilers . . .

Posted by Dustin on 10.08.2012 at 10:44 pm

There seem to be some gaps in some shows coming up in October . . . most of these are two weeks worth, though some shows there are gaps. I believe it’s probably do to the election and debates.

On “Once Upon A Time,” Enter Captain Hook! Also Regina sees a ghost from her past in Storybrook?
On “Revenge,” As usual the spoilers are cryptic, but the real Emily seems to be put in danger by Amanda/Emily’s plans.
On “666 Park Avenue,” The little girl’s ghost continues to haunt Jane, and a Halloween ball is planned!
On “Castle,” Kate and Rick travel to the Hamptons for a “Revenge” style spoof, and a Halloween episode puts Castle on the suspect list!
On “Private Practice,” there’s a new doc joining the practice? Oh brother!
On “Last Resort,” Marcus and Sam try to smooth things over with the U.S. Government. We know that will go no where, as it would mean the end of the show!
On “Grey’s Anatomy,” The doctors have to make a horrific decision in the aftermath of the crash . . . Worse than what we’ve already seen so far?

Read on for all the goodness!

Once Upon A Time: Evil Queen Cora’s Shocking Return!

Once Upon A Time: Evil Queen Cora’s Shocking Return!

Posted by Dustin on 10.08.2012 at 7:58 pm

Last night’s episode of “Once Upon A Time” introduced us to three different realities and/or times. I have to say, this could start to get confusing! There was modern day Storybrook, the past of fairytale land (which apparently is properly called “The Enchanted Forest”) and then there is modern day “Enchanted Forest.”

On this episode, everyone began to try and regroup and looked to Charming to lead them, but he still had a lot of David in him that was causing some doubts. Their personalities had now all mixed. Meanwhile the dwarves learned what happens when someone tries to leave the town when Sneezy tried to do so. . . they lose their memory all over again! With no curse to be broken, how will they return one of their owns’ memories? They have decided to head into the mines to look for fairy dust . . . . If you remember back to last season though, at the bottom of the old mines was Snow’s glass coffin . . . . Perhaps they may find a way back to their land through there?

Regina meanwhile remembered how Rumple offered her mother Cora magic to get her to where she was, and then turned on Cora to offer it to Regina. Regina didn’t like how magic changed her mother, so she shunned it initially. However the temptation was too great . . . I liked this story because it made a little more sense. I never liked how Regina blamed a little Snow for all that went wrong in her life, when it was her mother who was really to blame. It’s clear that magic twisted her soul and feed her hate.

Back in the real world, Regina went to Gold’s shop to get the book of magic from him, hoping it would return her powers. It seemed to work, but as always . . . magic has a price! Regina reflected on who she once was and who she became, and realized she wanted to be better for Henry’s sake. She almost destroyed the book . . . but instead locked it away. She vowed to prove to Henry that she could change. Are we seeing a softer side of Regina? If she goes soft, who will our villain be? By the end of the show, we got a possible answer!

Charming/David asked Regina, after her supposed desire to change, if their land still existed? She said it did, but she honestly had no idea how to get back there. Hence my comment about the mine and the dwarves earlier.

In present day “Enchanted Forest,” well we didn’t see any of this until the very end, which I was a bit saddened by. I really enjoyed that story last time, and I wanted to see more of it. Mulan and Beauty took Snow/Mary and Emma to their refugee camp. They tried to escape and were quickly thrown in a pit. Someone else was in there . . . Cora! Yes, the evil bitch is back! That was just a great twist that I didn’t see coming. Initially I was hoping it was Maleficent down there some how 🙂 I still hope we get to see her again.

Questions to ponder . . . .
We still don’t know who Whale is.
Henry did tell Geppetto where his son was. He went to the hotel and found Pinocchio’s hat, but no sign of August?
The mystery man in NY was not shown in this episode.
Rumple/Gold was furious about not being able to leave Storybrook. Something tells me very soon Belle will flee him and town and will be the next to lose her memory.
Why Snow didn’t say who she was? Even with a different haircut, someone has to remember her right?

Grey’s Anatomy: Back In Time!

Grey’s Anatomy: Back In Time!

Posted by Dustin on 10.07.2012 at 4:09 pm

This week’s “Grey’s Anatomy” took us on a trip back in time to explain what happened post crash that lead up to the season premier. Honestly, I felt like for the most part this episode wasn’t necessary. We got the idea of what happened for the most part, and I actually felt this added a huge question in that I didn’t have before! I think it would have made more sense to just have aired this episode as the season premier, but then we wouldn’t have had the shocking moments of Mark’s death and Arizona’s leg reveal I suppose.

Out of all the back stories that played out, Christina’s was really the one that gave us a lot of information we couldn’t have gotten without this episode. Christina stayed strong for everyone after the crash, kept everyone going and alive for four days, and recounted a horrific moment where she had to keep wild animals off of Lexie’s corpse. Eww! So she ended up falling into a catatonic state for awhile after they were brought back. When she snapped to, she chose to leave for the “Happy Smurf Hospital” because Seattle Grace just reminded her of nothing but tragedy. She thought for the same reason, Meredith too should leave this place behind. Derek too was pushing her to go to Harvard, but she refused. Instead of running, Meredith wanted to own this place, to conquer the bad memories in a way.

We all know Christina is going to end up returning, so I’m not sure why they sent her away. I guess in part, it would not have made sense in the real world for all these doctors not to have left Seattle Grace. But with so many doctors on staff now dead or needing replacing, it does work that they stay. For example Alex put off John’s Hopkins in order to take over Pediatrics so Arizona and his work wasn’t screwed up by the new doctor they were planning to hire. Also Alex felt extreme guilt as Arizona was only on the plane because he didn’t get on to go to the conference.

The one story that left me with more questions was Mark’s death. Mark was conscious, talking, and happy. It looked like nothing was wrong. However the chief said he was still terminal, and this was just an adrenaline boost many patience experience before the end. We then saw the end coming, and Mark making preparations as to when he should be taken off of life support. Perhaps I missed it, but what the hell was the terminal illness killing Mark? I can’t remember if it was ever said! We knew from last season that his heart was injured in the crash and he developed fluid around it, but couldn’t that have been fixed with a transplant if it came to it? I was so confused! I probably just missed the explanation . . . .

Private Practice: It’s Not Right, And It’s Not Okay!

Private Practice: It’s Not Right, And It’s Not Okay!

Posted by Dustin on 10.04.2012 at 8:29 pm

Seriously, I know this show loves to push the envelope, but sometimes it’s just too much and makes me feel dirty for watching! Case in point, this episode!

Most of the episode was about Pete’s Balinese inspired funeral, which is what he wanted. He wanted to be cremated, to be spread in the ocean, and for everyone to laugh and sing and be happy. However Violet was angry, she was pissed, she was mad! She didn’t want to be putting on a happy face, she just wanted to be pissed that her husband was dead and that he wanted this happy crappy funeral. It didn’t help that all of Pete’s patients showed up to tell her how great Pete was, when she was simply furious at him for so many things.

Meanwhile Sheldon was late to the party thanks to a patient that showed up planning to end his life. As the show went on we learned his shameful secret, he’s a pedophile. He hasn’t acted on his urges, but basically can only get off by thinking about small children. Sheldon wanted to help him, there were drugs and things they could do. However he had already arrived downing a bottle of pills. Sheldon called the paramedics, and the guy was saved. Sheldon however wondered if he had done the right thing, it may have been better to let this guy die . . . . Oh this show and their envelope pushing! This whole story was just . . .. bad! Oh and if you couldn’t figure out who the patient was, it was Jane’s new angel Luke from “Drop Dead Diva.” That made it all the more easier for me to not feel his pain at all! As if I liked anything about the story. I hated this story for a lot of reasons, but I don’t want to get over political on here 🙂 Needless to say, I felt they were giving fodder to certain “slippery slope” arguments out there.

Back at the party, Violet and a stressed out Cooper ended up smoking some of Pete’s old pot to get high. Addison said it had a bad reaction, but she supported them. Of course strict Sam wouldn’t even partake, and Jake also declined. Frankly I was laughing my ass off at these two. I loved when Sam got on his high horse and said this was illegal, so Pete and Violet prescribed each other medical marijuana! Then they got the munchies and Addison ordered them 4 pizzas. Really 4 pizzas? I was just laughing at this whole segment, which was needed after the icky child molesting issues.

By the end of the show Addison got the news about Mark’s death, and broke down. Violet was pissed as there was supposed to be no crying, then she decided Pete’s funeral was just stupid and broke down herself. She eventually poured out his ashes, and a variety of baby issues got resolved. Addison asked Amelia to be Henry’s godmother, while Cooper and Charlotte agreed to take Violet and Pete’s kid should something happen to her. Oh and the triplet secret is out too.

We all know this is Kate Walsh’s final season, unless she has a huge change of heart. I feel like they are already working towards her departure with all her Sam and Jake issues.

More Thoughts on NBC’s Revolution . . .

More Thoughts on NBC’s Revolution . . .

Posted by Dustin on 10.04.2012 at 11:00 am

First up, the good news. NBC ordered a full season of “Revolution.” So we should have no fear of it going away in the near future. However a second season decision is along ways away, so there is always that fear we’ll be left dangling as we have with so many NBC shows in the past few years. That’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve been afraid to get into this show.

I enjoyed the pilot, but as I previously posted, had a lot of issues with the science of it all. How does electricity cease to exist? It’s like saying gravity stopped. Electricity is not just man-made, it’s a part of nature!

Since the pilot I feel like the show has been a little slow. There has been a lot of emphasis on fighting. I get that will always be a part of the show given the post-apocalyptic world, but I’m interested in story as well. It seems as if all the major things happen in the final few minutes of the episode. It’s the “aha moments” I honestly have issues with, as I feel in some ways it’s a tactic to make you hang around. It reminds me too much of “The Killing” and in many ways “Revenge.” Obviously it’s a good tactic to put a twist at the end, but when I only enjoy the last few seconds . . . . well I end up not paying attention to much of the rest of the show.

I definitely like the story with the “Google Guy” and the blonde (I haven’t learned their names) the best, because that’s where the mystery is. Why did the lights go out, and what are those little necklaces about? Clearly they are some kind of portable power source . . .

The twist with Miles knowing Monroe wasn’t really much of a twist, as we knew that from the pilot. However it almost is looking like Miles was really the initial leader, and Monroe was a follower at first? Then there is that third guy they picked up along the way, who looks to be as ruthless as Miles once was. I’m getting the feeling that Monroe was a wimp who just went mad over time?

666 Park Avenue Premier Thoughts

666 Park Avenue Premier Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 10.03.2012 at 2:34 pm

So one of the new shows I’ve been looking forward to this season is “666 Park Avenue,” which premiered this weekend. I have to say I liked it a lot, and just hope that means it sticks around.

The show is about a building first and foremost, The Drake, who seems to be a character of its own? The building is owned by Olivia and Gavin Doran, and they “rent” rooms out. However it seems they more than rent them out, the tenants are signing over their souls to the building. The show opened with one of them trying to escape the building, but not being let go. Throughout the show we also saw Gavin making a deal with another resident. This man was being ordered to kill certain people, his payment was the return of his dead wife. While some clearly know the deal, it seems others either don’t know what is going on, or have yet to be brought in on a deal by Gavin and Olivia?

Enter Henry and his wife Jane. Henry is an up and coming lawyer, while Jane is an architect and a historian. They answer a job to be building managers on the side. The old one was the guy who we witnessed getting killed by the building earlier in the episode. Olivia and Gavin really wine and dine Henry and Jane in order to get them to take the job, gifts and a great apartment are pretty hard to turn down. Jane also becomes a bit infatuated by the building and its history and looks into it. There is a mysterious dragon symbol in the basement, and she locates photos of some bizarre social club that used to gather there in the olden days. Also there used to be a door down there, which has now been covered up . . .

Jane and Henry end up taking the job, especially after Gavin suggests Jane also help him restore the building to how it was in its glory days. How can they turn the deal down?

I definitely think that Gavin is going to end up being one of the men in the picture Jane found. He told David that he only bought the building in the 80s, but we know he’s been around for awhile.

I am hoping that if the show lasts, the one thing that won’t happen is that it will just get too weird and confusing. There were other stories going on as well, another couple seems to live in the building: a writer and his artist wife. The writer seemed to have this infatuation for a girl in the building across from them. Suddenly she had shown up to be the wife’s assistant, and then the wife suffered terrible accident in the building’s elevator. Oops!

I’m also worried about how long the show can last too. That’s something I seem to think about a lot as new shows seem to be built on premises that make going passed a single season seem difficult. How long can these stories go on? Obviously they can have endless characters come and go, but at some point Jane and Henry will end up learning what is going on.

Once Upon A Time Season 2 Premiers!

Once Upon A Time Season 2 Premiers!

Posted by Dustin on 10.01.2012 at 8:42 pm

“Once Upon A Time” is the show I was most looking forward to returning this year, and the season premier did not disappoint. In fact I love the new direction they’ve spun things in. I’m actually going to re-watch the show at some point, because I know I missed some details, and I have a few questions about other things. The season picked up right where it left off, with the curse broken, the characters remembering, and Gold bringing back magic! However things did not go as expected for anyone . . .

The characters remembered who they all were, and recognized one another . . . for the most part. However they wondered why they were still in Storybrook? Dr. Whale began organizing a riot to lynch Regina. Emma and her reunited parents realized they had to stop this. Something was very wrong, and Regina may be the only one who could answer things. Oh and how funny was it when Mary/Snow talked about her one night stand with Whale and caught David/Charming off guard. I loved when she said “Please, we were cursed!”

As the mob went for Regina, Regina seemed shocked that she couldn’t zap them into nothingness with her magic. Where was it? As the Blue Fairy began to tell people, magic in this world works very different than it did where they were from.

Charming/David at one point cornered Whale and asked him who he was? It seems even though Whale remembered his identity, nobody knew who he was . . . at least in this human form maybe? We know some haven’t reverted back. Jimminy Cricket is still a human, as is the Blue Fairy. So who is Whale and what does he really look like? I believe Whale made some comment about how Charming “wasn’t his Prince . . . . ” I suspect Whale may be a villain from the other side? Maybe he was one of those creatures in Regina’s council?

Gold unleashed magic, but as everyone else, learned it didn’t work quiet as expected. He wanted to get rid of Regina after he learned what she had done to Belle, and used a talisman from his shop to do so. The talisman was attached to some wraith creature, and he used it to sick the wraith on Regina!

Meanwhile we then began to see a similar storyline play out in the Fairytale Land. Prince Phillip, with his side kick Mulan, were searching for Sleeping Beauty. Phillip woke her up, but then it seemed he woke up a wraith as well. Beauty seemed to have a very similar talisman as Gold had . . . There was only one way to appease the wraith, so Phillip sacrificed himself to it instead of letting it take Sleeping Beauty . . . . Prince Phillip then fell into a deep sleep, and Mulan told Beauty that at some point they’d come back for him and rescue him. Here came the twist! Unlike last season, this wasn’t “the past” it was “the present!” Mulan informed Beauty that most of their land was ripped away by the Queen’s curse while Beauty slept. This small corner was spared, and she and Phillip had searched for her once they were able to. Just like on the other side, everyone was frozen for 20some years until very recently when something started time moving again. However it was not safe for them to be out and about, they had to return to a hiding spot many of them are hiding out in . . . .

Back in Storybrook, a wraith was on the loose in our world and after Regina. She knew of a possible way to banish it, using the Hatter’s hat to open a portal to their old world . . . or what wasn’t left. She said it would be banishing it into oblivion basically. Emma recognized it as Jefferson’s hat, but Regina asked who Jefferson was? I was confused here, Regina knows damn well who he is. What was she playing at? However as magic was unpredictable, she couldn’t get the hat to work! However when Emma touched it along with Regina . . . it sparked to life. I don’t think Emma realized this, but Regina sure did. Now Regina has even more of a reason to hate Emma, she seems to have magic! They did send the wraith to the other world, but Snow/Mary and Emma got sucked through the portal as well!

Back in Fairytale Land, things were now making sense. Mary/Snow, Emma and the Wraith went through and ended up in the portion of the land that was spared, and Phillip sacrificed himself to the wraith to spare Beauty. By the end of the episode, Mulan and Beauty found Mary/Snow and Emma unconscious and Mulan was pissed! She believed these people were responsible for bringing the Wraith and taking away Phillip. Oh dear! It seems they haven’t yet recognized Snow as she looks so different.

Back in Storybrook, Regina seemed to gain her powers back (did she really lose them? Was she faking? This was were I got confused . . . she got them back after Emma and Mary/Snow got sucked in . . . was that her plan?). After Snow and Emma were gone, she turned on David/Charming. She was about to finally do away with him via magic when Henry showed up and stopped her. Henry told her that she really was the Evil Queen, and he wanted nothing to do with her anymore. He went off with David/Charming, who is his grandpa, and they vowed to get Mary/Snow and Emma back somehow.

Elsewhere, Belle ran off on Gold, after telling him off for what he had done. She realized he hadn’t changed at all, he was still the same ruthless man after power.

Some questions I have and hope to get answers to sooner rather than later . . .
Where is August? I hope he’s not still a wooden dummy!
Where is Jefferson? Last we saw him I think he disappeared? Is he is our land, or back over there?
Who else might have magic and may not realize it? Henry perhaps? He is Emma’s kid.
Will Henry’s dad come into play? Is THAT who we saw in the mysterious intro clip that seemed to be set in New York City? Or could that be Gold’s missing son? Or a bigger twist . . . is he both?
