Nashville’s Season Finale Thoughts!

Nashville’s Season Finale Thoughts!

Wow I really wasn’t sure how “Nashville” would top their last episode in the previous episode. However, they did! I really hope that the show got some kind of inside word that their renewal was a sure thing, otherwise that ending would have left me furious! So where to begin?

Will seemed to throw himself into women and his career, trying to keep his homosexuality on the DL. I don’t think that’s gunna last very long in this town. The actor has been added as a full cast member for the fall. My guess is a tabloid scandal will rock him the minute he hits the big time.

Gunnar learned that Avery seemed to be putting his life together and moving back in on Scarlet. It was a wake-up call for him to get his shiznit together or else. At the end of the episode he proposed to her. Will she or won’t she?

Both Teddy and Lamar are in pretty bad situations at this point. Tandy ended up walking out of her dad’s company, after telling him off in a speech about how he seems to only have room in his life for one daughter at a time (or something along those lines). Later a fed, I am guessing, approached her and said they would like to talk to her about her father’s company . . . Uh oh! My guess is Tandy has found a way to oust Lamar!

Meanwhile Teddy was in just as much hot water with the feds after they learned about his little embezzling fiasco. I’m assuming Tandy or Coleman tipped them off based on previous episodes. He went to see Peggy, he thought she may have turned him in or something because she was mad at him. As it turns out the feds came to her first with an immunity deal, but she turned them down. Peggy’s pregnant! Man when Teddy steps in it, he does so with both feet. I’m thinking his resignation as mayor is not far off into next season.

Juliette was devastated over her mama Jolene’s death, and the news was having a field day with a drug-fest-lovers-quarrel-murder-suicide. She was pissed, she thought her mother went on a crazy bender. In the end, thanks to a letter her mom wrote before hand, she learned her mom did all this to protect her for once. I don’t know why I thought she knew, I thought her mom had called her and told her as much after she shot Dante and basically was left dying on the couch? I guess she didn’t explain everything though . . . I still think Juliette will end up a junkie herself at some point. Oh the only upside for Juliette in this episode was she won the female artist of the year award.

Speaking of junkies, Maddie told Deacon about the paternity test she found, and he confronted Rayna. Rayna told him it was true, and he had a melt down. The first thing he asked was “How is this even possible?” She told him that right there is why she never told him, he doesn’t even remember half of that period of his life because of the substance abuse. She said she didn’t know it was his till after she had married Teddy, and then she and Teddy AND Coleman all agreed the truth wasn’t what he needed at that point, and Maddie needed a father she could depend on. Deacon ended up going on a huge bender, getting into a fight with Teddy, and then bailing on going back to AA with Coleman. The episode ended with Rayna and Deacon in a car driving and fighting and then BAM! They swerved to miss hitting a car and flipped theres down into a ravine.

Ohhhhhh my! I’m guessing neither of them will die, though someone will probably be in rehab and the other in some kind of physical therapy/recovery situation. I actually can’t wait till the fall as this was a great finale. I’m also, as I said, really glad it’s coming back. Otherwise I would have been livid to have things end like that with no resolution.

  1. Great review! I, too, would have been furious if the series had ended with this episode. They MUST have known they’d be back.
