So I’m still watching “Extant” and enjoying it, but much like “Falling Skies” I’m looking for answers. As we are only a few episodes in and still setting the story up, I’m not as annoyed with this show as I am with the later. So far all we know is that the Yasumoto corporation and mainly Yasumoto himself is after a cure for a disease that is killing him, and Molly’s pregnancy could be the cure. We still don’t know what happened to Molly on the space station, but whatever did seems to have followed her home. She’s now having hallucinations of her dead boyfriend here on earth! Was she simply drugged? Part of an insane medical experiment? Or is there something else going on? Yasumoto keeps talking about “them” and is making it seem like there is an alien life form of some kind. We also saw some of his scientists experimenting with some kind of slime thing, and it killed one due to exposure to it without protective gear. It has both medical healing and killing properties. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s some kind of space spore or fungus, and they exposed Molly to it.
Then there is Ethan, the little android boy, who seems to be growing into something dark and creepy. I don’t know if I’m supposed to fear him or feel bad for him. The latest episode had the government kidnap Ethan and deactivate him. Have they killed him? Are they going to reprogram him for something as part of their scheme for Molly? Yasumoto and the government also got Molly and it seems are going to take her baby out of her! Holy crap, that’s a major part of this story. Though if the “alien” is now on earth, maybe he/it can get her pregnant again?
Finally the one person Molly felt she could trust, her doctor Sam, has been pulled into this whole scheme by the government and the space program who are threatening her career and her brother.
The show is downright puzzling at times, but it is enjoyable.
So TNT has renewed “Falling Skies” for one more final season. I’m not sad about that, as this show is just awful now! I don’t know why I am watching it still, I guess because I want to actually get some answers. I usually put it off till a slow night in the week, but “Witches” wasn’t on last night, so I watched it.
The show spent the last two episodes having Lexi go into, and come out of a cocoon. Apparently the only thing physically that changed was her eyes, and I only know that as Ben said “look at her eyes.” They looked normal to me? I thought she was going to come out some half-human half-Eshvetti, but no. She did come out with these amazing powers, and promptly freed Lourdes from her suffering by killing her. First good thing to happen all season! She was done with the humans as they couldn’t learn peace, so she was going to be with the Eshvetti. This kid is straight up insane. How do those aliens understand peace? So frustrating! She went to be with her Eshvetti father, who donated his DNA to help make Lexi. Ben followed her and she some how took control of his spikes to get him to go into a ship with herm.
Meanwhile the overlord that Tom burned up earlier in the season as “The Ghost” is still alive and out for blood. He launched an all out war on Tom and the Second Mass. Pretty much half to most of the ground troops got wiped out. The rest sought shelter in an old fallout shelter and tried to convince the overlord that he blew them all up. The crazy scientist got killed in the battle, Maggie is lost somewhere, and Tom went gorilla to kill the Overlord himself and is buried under rubble. From the previews we know Tom is taken hostage and tortured, while Maggie is paralyzed. I’m guessing the only thing that will help Maggie is the Eshvetti spike technology?
The only thing I’m enjoying on this show is Pope and his new girlfriend, played by Mira Sorvino. They are fun to watch! I wouldn’t cry one tear if Lexi died, and again what I really want is answers!
There are only three episodes of “True Blood” left, and I hope they are all more exciting than last night’s episode. Let’s get into what happened!
First up, with such limited time left, I don’t understand why they are spending all this time on Bill’s past. We had to watch flashbacks of how he was put in an arranged marriage with his wife this week. So what? Where are these flashbacks going? Are they going to lead Bill to a revaluation about the cure? If not what is the point? To make us like Bill again to forget all the crappy things he’s done?
In Bill’s present, Sookie brought in the dwarf vampire doctor to help Bill. It seems there is some connection between infected fairies and the disease rapidly spreading, but she’s never seen it spread this fast. That may have something to do with her blood line. When she learned who Sookie was related to, she got the “F” out of there. We learned the fairies killed a lot of dwarves off in the past. Sookie then tried to get her fairy grandfather to heal Bill, but even his magic couldn’t do that. Or if it could he lied to her, as he doesn’t like Bill. Sookie vowed to stay by Bill’s side till the end, and predictably they got it on.
One of the funnier story lines this week was Arlene dreaming about, and falling for her vampire protector Keith. Of course she’s Hep-V positive so they can’t do anything. It’s good to see Arlene may get a happy ending though.
Hoyt finally returned to town with a new hottie girlfriend. He came home to bury his mama. He of course doesn’t remember Jason at all, but knows everyone else it seems. Jason was fixated on his girlfriend for the entire episode. Really? Jason can’t think with his head at all? He’s going to take another one of Hoyt’s girls? If he sleeps with her then I will really be pissed. I still think Hoyt will end up with Jessica in the end. Maybe then Jason will take Hoyt’s new girl?
Violet took Adeline and Wade to her house where she slept while they got it on. However when she woke, she threw Wade across the room and chained up Violet. Jessica sensed this and went running to save her, of course not telling anyone what she sensed first. It is looking by the previews that Violet wasn’t after Adeline, but Jessica to pay her back for screwing Jason.
Eric, Pam and Mr. Gus continued to track down Sarah. Eric lost control and killed her sister, but they know now that she’s the cure. Mr. Gus envisions synthesizing and bottle her blood to sell as “Nu Blood.” They tracked her down at her old church. What a dumb place to hide? Sarah started going nuts and was seeing dead and not so dead people all telling her that she was going to die that night. She saw Jason, Steve and the Guru guy. I’m not sure why the heck she’s losing her marbles. The odd thing is, since she became Newmie I kinda like her and don’t want her to die anymore.
Finally Lettie Mae and Lafayette went to their old house and began digging up the yard looking for something Tara wanted them to find. We don’t know what it is yet.
That’s about it for this episode. Again, I hope the last three are a lot better!
Once Upon A Time: Let It Go! First Official Frozen Shots!
Posted by Dustin on 07.31.2014 at 9:24 pm
So at Comic Con, “Once Upon A Time” showcased real footage from Season 4. Following the movie, Anna’s getting married, Elsa is against it, and then there is other good stuff like Regina bringing back Sydney Glass (whose show “Revolution” was canned). Of course the preview clip is pretty much as impossible to find online as the leaked “Batman Vs Superman” teaser also shown there.
However ABC has released the first official photos of Elsa (Georgina Haig) and Kristoff (Scott Michael Foster). We also know Anna will be played by Elizabeth Lail, Tyler Jacob Moore will play Prince Hans, and the incomparable John Rhys-Davies will voice Pabbie the rock troll elder.
The divide between Barbie and Julia was finally resolved in the latest episode of “Under The Dome,” and the shadow of doubt put on Sam where it should have always been. I knew from the minute he showed up that he was no good and knew Melanie. Barbie learns about Melanie, her past, and her friends from the kids. Melanie remembers when and where she died, but doesn’t know who did it. They initially suspect Lyle killed Melanie when they found and fought over the meteor/egg. She was dating Sam, she doesn’t think he did this to her. However it really was Sam. To make matters worse, Jr goes and tells his uncle that his mom was still alive, and he suspects a missing page in his mom’s diary will tell them who killed Angie and why. Yeah, guess who has that page, good ole Uncle Sam! He also tells Sam who the remaining three hands are. Jr, I’m gunna need your gun and badge back. It seems that Sam thinks killing the hands will bring down the dome. As if!
Rebecca and Big Jim served all of two minutes of jail time for trying to poison half the town. People are still on his side, and Julia acting as the new mayor basically pardons them at the end of the episode. Hang them I say! This town is seriously full of brainwashed idiots!
Phil went rogue in this episode and stole the towns food supply, though it was really Big Jim’s master plan to make himself look like the savior of the town once again. They staged it so that it appeared the food, which Julia convinced everyone to gather to keep it safe, was blown up by accident. The plan failed when the food was found by Norrie’s mom and figured out what Phil did. He tried to kill her, but Barbie shot him. I was going to be seriously upset if they killed Norrie’s only remaining mom.
The real honor for saving the town went to Hoyt’s Mama from “True Blood.” Yup, just when I thought I was rid of her! Her late husband was a hoarder and a preparer, and she had oodles of food stored in her home. She is playing a good person on this show, but to me she’s still Hoyt’s Mama.
At the end of the show Joe gets an idea to have the science teacher Rebecca test Melanie’s blood. Meanwhile Barbie and Julia discover something in Angie’s locker . . . a secret underground tunnel! Where does it go? The next few episodes explore that.
Spoilers for the next three shows below! Read More »
Lot’s of spoilers below for both shows, including the return of Rosie O’Donnell to “The Fosters” and the Summer Finale. I have to play catch-up on both shows honestly, which is why I haven’t blogged about them. I’ve watched them, but wasn’t always paying close attention. I plan to rematch the latest episodes again this week. I know that Allison is annoying me and I may whack her soon if someone else doesn’t!
Witches Of East End: Is Fredrick Really Evil? Plus Spoilers!
Posted by Dustin on 07.28.2014 at 1:18 pm
So a lot has been going down with the “Witches of East End” in the past few episodes. The major question still remains as to what Fredrick is up to. Each week it seems to flip flop from he’s bad, to he’s good, to he’s back to being bad. The last two episodes had Victor kidnapped by these twins from “The Rat Clan” who were old friends of Fredrick’s in Asgard and banished long ago. They wanted Fredrick to open the portal and let them go back. They later kidnapped Freya to make him do this. While Joanna went to rescue the family, Fredrick went to deal with the rats. The sister got away it seems, but Fredrick killed the brother. Before doing so the brother said he would be killing his family at the same time, and Fredrick didn’t seem to care! So it seems like Fredrick hasn’t changed at all. Meanwhile Joanna did rescue Freya, but Victor apparently died in a spell trap. He actually sacrificed himself to save Freya and Joanna. I refuse to believe it though. We didn’t see Victor actually die, Joanna and Freya had to flee or be caught in the trap too. Also the sister is still out there I think.
Dash and Killian have been reunited, but Killian doesn’t remember what happened to him. He thinks he was knocked out in a storm and wound up being found by his new girlfriend Eva. The brothers rediscovered their heritage, but Dash misused a spell that almost ended up killing Killian. Ingrid saved him, but not before the Mandragora aka the Plant Monster got to her again. Ingrid confessed to Dash that she was losing bits of time, and she had marks on her body that she can’t explain. It’s where the Mandragora is sucking her life basically. She asked Dash for his help. You can tell these two are going to end up together, which will not please Freya. Dash is also still boarderline nuts from all that’s happened to him. When Killian finally remembers, things will get ugly.
Eslewhere Wendy and the EMT are dating, but it seems like their relationship is almost jinxed. Wendy keeps hurting the poor guy in various ways. She’s had to use magic over and over to save him, and he’s eventually going to catch on. Right now he’s playing dumb almost, but I think he probably knows exactly who and what she is. I wouldn’t be shocked if he was a warlock.
Spoilers for the next three episodes below! Including special guest James Marsters (Spike from “Buffy”)!
So last night we got some major answers on “True Blood.” It was Sookie who unknowingly infected Bill. She cut herself to draw the Hep-V vamps out, and got splattered with their blood, infecting her and later infecting Bill who drank from her. Oops! I did wonder how with all that blood being splattered nobody managed to get infected. Bill’s disease is out of control and he likely has hours left. I’m guessing that’s the affect of the fairy blood mixed with the disease.
A spurned Violet has decided to take things out on Adeline and Wade, who she kidnapped at the end of this episode. They had run away to be together as they are in love, and Andy wasn’t thrilled when he found them “doing the deed.”
It turns out Lettie Mae isn’t crazy after all. Lafayette did V with her to try and put her delusions to rest, and he too saw Tara. She sent them on a mission to the house she lived in growing up. There is something there they have to see or do for her.
Finally we learned, as I somewhat guessed last week, that Sarah Newland does have the cure for Hep-V. Actually she IS the cure. She drank the antidote and now her blood is the cure. But will she be found in time to save Eric, Bill and others? I’m thinking Eric is not going to make it out of the season alive honestly. I’m not even sure about Bill at this point with how fast his disease is spreading.
It was just another OK episode of “True Blood.” It makes me sad to say that at this point I’m okay with it all ending.
On another note, I have been watching “The Leftovers” which airs right after “True Blood.” I will probably start a blog on it. It annoys me to no end, and I can’t stand half the characters, but yet I keep watching it! A lot of my rants about it can be found on my Twitter.
Once Upon A Time Season 4 Comic Con Teaser: Frozen!
Posted by Dustin on 07.27.2014 at 12:08 pm
The following is the teaser shown at Comic Con for Season 4 of “Once Upon A Time” with the “Frozen” footage. It’s basically a long mash-up of Season 3 highlights, with “Frozen” and Season 4 at the very end.
The following commentary from IGN sheds more light on what was actually show from the real Season 4. I’ll update this post with more info as soon as I can locate the actual clips.
Comments Off on Once Upon A Time Season 4 Comic Con Teaser: Frozen!
So I neglected to write a blog on last week’s “True Blood,” mainly because I felt it was a boring and uneventful episode. The only parts I liked were the Pam and Eric flashbacks about how they started Fangtasia, and the end when everyone finally was rescued from the basement of Fangtasia.
The latest episode had a huge party being thrown at Sookie’s by the town to celebrate Alcide and Tara’s life, rather than morn their death. Of course all kinds of stuff went down there. The one happy event was Andy proposing to Holly, who said yes. Bill showed up and was nice and polite like he was in the beginning of the series, and we got to see all these flashbacks of his past. He did not want to fight in the civil war, and even tried to escape with his family and several slaves on the underground railroad. I assumed this was all being done to prop Bill up as a good guy again so he and Sookie could be together. That may not happen given the last shocking scene. We saw Bill taking a nice hot bath at his house, look at himself in the mirror, and he had the beginning veins of Hep-V! The mystery of course is how he got it. Sookie drank from him recently to re-establish their connection, so is she infected now too? Or did he somehow get it in the fight with the Hep-V vamps? Or did Sookie have it and give it to Bill somehow? Also did Bill really need a nice hot bath, I mean he’s dead, it won’t warm him up. Yes, that went through my mind too.
Elsewhere at the party, Lafayette and James finally got it on, only to be caught by a pissed off Jessica. Lafayette talked to her about how he deserved to be happy too, and he didn’t think she and James were that happy together. He said if she didn’t love him then to let him go. Jessica and Jason had a long talk, she realized Lafayette was right. Jason did too, applying it to his situation with Violet. He doesn’t really love her. Before you knew it, Jason and Jessica were getting it on! Unfortunately Violet heard them from outside the room, and now they are both screwed! That crazy witch will make them pay, that’s for sure.
Lettie May is still insisting that Tara is stuck and needs her help. She attacked Willow to get her blood, but Sookie and others stopped her.
Pam, Eric and Sarah Newland’s sister all went to Dallas to find her. Sarah’s sister is a vampire and the dark secret of the family. She wants revenge on Sarah, as she’s infected with Hep-V and her boyfriend died from it. They tracked Sarah down at a Republican fundraiser for Ted Cruz, but unfortunately so did the Yakuza who is after her. The Yakuza shot up the place, killing both of Sarah’s parents. Eric took their leader out for revenge as he killed some old girlfriend of his in Europe once. Sarah seems to have gotten away yet again.
Pam as usual had the best line in the show. Eric gave her this gaudy sequin dress for the party. She put it on and said “Oh my God, I’m a Republic#$@%! Yeah it’s too dirty to even type, but I bust out laughing.
With Bill and Eric dying from Hep-V, it’s starting to look like Sookie isn’t going to get a happy ending. I am hopeful that they will find a cure, and I bet Sarah knows it. However it’s possible both could die. Sam’s girlfriend sorta flipped out on Sam and the town in this episode for not being normal. I could see her ditching the kid with Sam and running off, and him and Sookie finally being together and raising it.
