Ghost Whisperer: Shinnies, Shadows and No More Book

Ghost Whisperer: Shinnies, Shadows and No More Book

Posted by Dustin on 03.14.2010 at 9:00 pm

So we’ve had two weeks of new “Ghost Whisperer,” but unfortunately in now seems we go into “March Madness” basketball season, so there is no episode for next week. First the Olympics bumped everything, now this? Seriously! I want my TV!

The evil shadow serving dean of Rockland University met his end in last week’s episode, but at the same time took the Book of Changes with him. He traded Dehlia’s life for the book, only to learn the book saved itself by erasing itself. Then he and the book went boom in an explosion.

So all this storyline has in part been about the book, and now it’s just gone? Where will we go from here, what will guide Melinda and Eli? Aidan I guess?

The shadows I assume are still out there. This week dealt with some ghost woman in a haunted house collecting spirits for the shadows. But without the book, we don’t know what’s coming down the line with them or what they even want. Again I guess it’s up to Aidan and his shinnies.

On a side note, not to be gossipy, but it broke this week that Jennifer Love and Jamie Kennedy finally broke up. It’s been gossip for a few months, but she finally confirmed it. With their off screen romance dunzo, I have to wonder how long before Eli is dunzo on screen and on this show?

Post Note:Went back and rewatched the show after a comment from Melissa 🙂 I had it on but as usual was multi-tasking when it was playing. Ned’s been a bad bad boy, the Book of Shadows is now in his possession!

Post-Note 2: After finishing a second run-through, I don’t like where this story is going with the Shadows collecting ghost kids. Aidan is headed for deep doo-doo! The book won’t tell them anything, or at least not Ned. My original thoughts thus still stand, Aidan and the shinnies to the rescue? Or Aidan in a lot of trouble! Remember the book seemed to originally foretell his death!

Grey’s And Private Practice: Relationship Hell

Grey’s And Private Practice: Relationship Hell

Posted by Dustin on 03.12.2010 at 8:58 pm

So I work late Thursdays, and am always coming home half way through “Grey’s Anatomy.” I saw the last 20 or so minutes and have some short thoughts on it. I also have thoughts on “Private Practice.”

First on “Grey’s,” I am not sure I want to watch the first 40 minutes after the last 20. I am seriously beginning to wonder about the writers for this show and “PP.” Are they perpetually single and this is why they have to screw up every couple on the show? Teddy and Mark flirting? Mark asking her out, while at the same time making it clear he is looking to build a life and settle down? Okay way to chase anyone off as you sound desperate. Then Owen was all jealous of Teddy and Mark? Which woman does he want? Meanwhile Lexie broke down when she also realized Mark was moving on. Then there is Arizona and Callie, who now have problems because it seems Arizona doesn’t want kids at all and Callie might. Grrrr! They were the only happy couple on the show! Of course Bailey is playing the field with the new doc, but he’s been cast on another show which means potential heartbreak coming for Bailey. Can nobody be happy?

Now comes the news, originally from Ausiello, but now picked up by every news organization out there, that Katherine Heigl is dunzo on the show and won’t be returning. So we get a crummy off screen explanation as to why Izzie is gone? That’s what it is looking like!

On “Private Practice” I was first annoyed because yet again we have a story where it comes down to choosing which babies live or if the surrogate mother dies trying to save all of them. ENOUGH with the dead kid stories on this show! I swear it’s all they do anymore and I’m beginning to think there is political agenda behind it. The show ended with the surrogate brain dead and all three babies still alive, but the next show has the husband wanting to pull the plug on his wife while the baby’s parents get a judge to keep her alive. See, political agendas!

Just like with “Grey’s,” it seems nobody on this show is happy either. Charlotte is still screwing around with Sheldon, though Cooper thinks she’s just doing it to mess with him (and I think she is!). Naomi is dating William, but kissing Fife on the side as he’s the one she really seems to want. She also doesn’t know that William has ALS and it’s the reason he’s pushing Fife to do some study which Naomi thinks should be taken slower. Pete found out about William and informed Fife, who decided suddenly to agree with Naomi that things should be taken slow. Yeah that’s going to backfire when Noami learns Fife changed his mind because he wants her and William out of the way! Then there is Addison and Sam, who finally got found out by Naomi, who was furious with them. All she could muster out of her mouth was “Shame on you!” Originally I was on Naomi’s side, but with her kissing on two guys at this point, my sympathies are wavering. I still don’t like SamAddison though!

90210 and Melrose Finally Return!

90210 and Melrose Finally Return!

Posted by Dustin on 03.10.2010 at 10:09 pm

So last night “90210” and “Melrose Place” finally returned, after what seems to be months off the air. Here are some quick thoughts. It’s been a long day, and I can’t remember everyone’s name 🙂 I’m also too tired to go look them up and say “Oh yeah that’s it!”

“90210?” I don’t know. I don’t like the whole story with Jasper blackmailing Annie into staying with him at all. I have a feeling he’s going to find himself as dead as his uncle soon!

The Naomi-Liam-Surfer Girl triangle bored me to tears I’m afraid. I rather see Liam with Surfer Girl than Naomi honestly.

The same goes for Dickson-Silver-Teddy. What the hell, suddenly Dickson suddenly realizes he still loves Silver and wants to be with her?

Adrianna and Rumer Willis’ lesbian romance could be interesting, if done right. It at least seems cute, sweet and innocent at this point, unlike all the other romances on the show.

Finally a big NO to “Aunt Becky” suddenly finding the yoga instructor cute at the end of the show. After having to deal with her uproar over Kelly and her husband, this is what she does?

As for “Melrose Place,” well I hadn’t seen the last 3 episodes or so, so I never saw the resolve to the Syndey murder storyline. It seems I really haven’t missed too much. I felt the show was a bit of a snoozer. That boring couple who were engaged is still having problems and still stinking up the scream with their lack of chemistry!

Parenthood Gets A Bit Dark

Parenthood Gets A Bit Dark

Posted by Dustin on 03.10.2010 at 10:00 pm

So last night was the second episode of “Parenthood” on NBC. I felt in comparison to the first episode, this was a bit darker and more serious. The eldest son Adam had to come face to face with his son’s asperger’s syndrome, while Sarah got shot down for a great job because she didn’t have a college degree (but she did have the talent). Meanwhile Sarah’s daughter was informed she had to repeat 10th grade again because her grades and credits from her last school weren’t good enough for the new one.

I don’t know, it definitely wasn’t the funny episode the first one was. It did have it’s moments, but I feel like they made this much more a family drama as opposed to a comedy or dramedy. I have yet to read about the ratings and how it’s fairing. My guess is NBC has nothing to show from the Jay Leno disaster, so it’s not like they are going to pull this off air anytime soon. They’ll probably run out all taped episodes and then make a decision whether or not to keep it for next year.

Grey’s Anatomy: Famous Docs

Grey’s Anatomy: Famous Docs

Posted by Dustin on 03.08.2010 at 10:52 pm

I finally got to see last week’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” I wanted to post some quick thoughts on this episode, which overall I liked.

The main story was that one of the Mercy Westers grandfather was admitted and he was a renowned surgeon named Harper Avery who gave out a prestigious award every year. Christina and others were trying to use their cases to do radical rarely used procedures in hopes of gaining his attention for the reward.

In the end though, it was The Chief who benefited most from him. They were old friends, and Harper also knew Meredith’s mom as well. Harper needed surgery and he would only let The Chief do it. Derek allowed him to go back to work, with Bailey’s assistance. They solved the dilemma (he had an allergy to a certain type of suture, which he never knew because he himself always had on gloves when using them). In the end Harper pushed The Chief to consider resuming some old research study he was conducting and that it may just be award worthy.

I really liked this storyline and oddly liked The Chief in this one. I think his drinking and the lack of power knocked him down a lot, and now he’s more humble. I liked the idea that he might go back to surgery and research for awhile, possibly helping to bring some of the loss prestige back to Seattle Grace.

The other story I liked was the one with McSteamy as well as Lexie and Alex. I don’t like the fact that Alex is still after Lexie, and I loved that Meredith told her sister that she needed to stay away from Alex because unlike him, her heart is in her vagina! I spit my drink out when she said that. Alex is after sex to ignore his problems, whereas Lexie is hurting over Mark and will probably fall for Alex to easily. On the other hand, I loved that everyone under the sun was basically pointing out to Mark that he had regressed to being the womanizer he was and to stop sleeping with every woman who walked into the hospital. I really hate what he’s becoming in the wake of his and Lexie’s breakup. I don’t know if they can ever get back together after all this bed hopping between them!

Mark however did have a patient, a mother who had been cared for by her daughter for years, that someone helped him heal in the wake of the Sloan baby incident. Mark understood the daughter’s want and desire to take care of her mother, but now she had to find a way to move on and realize she had to take care of herself. Though in the end, the daughter was thrilled when her mother go better because she had always longed for a life of her own, which she was finally getting!

Private Practice: Love Triangles Galore!

Private Practice: Love Triangles Galore!

Posted by Dustin on 03.05.2010 at 4:55 pm

I have yet to see the latest “Grey’s,” but I did see “Private Practice.” Unfortunately I was a bit bored by the show. I felt this episode was a snoozer!

Basically the whole episode was about people dating people they shouldn’t be. Naomi kept dating William, but realized Fife (I think that’s his name, the guy in the wheelchair) likes her and she likes him. Sam replaced Addison with a second rate version of her, while Violet was MIA. She and Cooper went on vacation and she stayed while he returned. I guess the actress wasn’t available for some reason and this is how they dealt with it. Meanwhile Charlotte hooked up with Sheldon of all people! Way to make me not feel sorry for Charlotte at all anymore. Pete and Addison meanwhile sulked over the fact that Sam and Violet seemed to be moving on with their lives.

As I said, somewhat of a snoozer episode. I really can’t root for Sam and Addison still, and it seems like this episode was trying to get us to do just that. We’re supposed to feel sorry that they can’t be together? Bleck! I don’t want them together! I do however want to see Noami and the other doc hook up, that could be very interesting.

Parenthood Pilot Thoughts

Parenthood Pilot Thoughts

Posted by Dustin on 03.04.2010 at 10:57 pm

So I watched NBC’s “Parenthood” this week and really enjoyed it. However I found myself constantly comparing it to the movie. The movie is one of my all time favorites, so really there was no way I wouldn’t compare the two. In many cases the families were loosely based on the families in the movie, but some minor changes were made. There was the divorced mother with the SOB ex. The family with the problem child. The family with the workaholic parent. And finally the brother who got surprised by a 5 year old kid he never knew.

In all honesty, I’m not sure how much I would have liked the show if it weren’t for the fact that I like the movie. Also the actors in the show are fabulous, so they go a long way to making the show likable.

In the end, it will be interesting to see how they can carry the stories on their own without the influence of the movie. That I think will be the telling factor as to whether the show is good and can survive.
